With the G5 15 5590-PCNJJ, Dell has an interesting gaming laptop on offer. For 1,000 Euros (~$1,112), buyers receive a Core i5-9300H and a GeForce GTX 1650 for a combination that is able to run almost all games at high settings.

The Dell G5 15 5590-PCNJJ is a true bargain in terms of price/performance. While most gaming laptops cost more than 1,500 Euros (~$1,668), this 15-inch device was made with price-conscious gamers in mind. The Core i5-9300H and the GeForce GTX 1650 form a balanced duo that, at the native display resolution (~1,920 x 1,080), only comes close to its limits in demanding titles. Thanks to Nvidia's Optimus technology, the battery life is good as well.

That said, prospective buyers should be aware of a few shortcomings. As our review has shown, the entry-level model of the G5 not only comes with a very slow card reader, but also includes an SSD with weak write speeds. Furthermore, users will have to contend with a panel that offers low luminance and pale colors. CPU throttling, which occurs in many 3D applications, is frustrating as well. On top of that, the case is creaky.
