Crimson Desert’s March 19 Steam launch drew hundreds of thousands of players, but Intel Arc GPU owners are being blocked by a “Graphics device not supported” error because Pearl Abyss does not officially support Arc cards. The studio disclosed the incompatibility only after release in its FAQ and is directing affected buyers to seek refunds, with no timeline offered for future support.

Crimson Desert launched on March 19 to an influx of hundreds of thousands of players on Steam alone. However, many gamers with older GPUs have been met with an unwelcome surprise: gamers using Intel’s Arc graphics cards can’t play Crimson Desert because the game doesn't officially support them. What’s especially surprising is that Pearl Abyss is encouraging Intel Arc users to request a refund for the game.

Intel’s Arc series of dedicated gaming GPUs has been slowly gaining popularity since its 2022 debut. While the launch was bumpy due to driver issues, the latest Intel graphics cards, coupled with steadily improving drivers like the Arc B580, can deliver a solid gaming experience at native 1080p and 1440p, featuring 12 GB of GDDR6 memory, 20 Xe cores, and 20 RT units.

Despite Intel Arc GPUs boasting enough graphical power to run Crimson Desert, the game doesn’t support them at all. The developer, Pearl Abyss, confirmed the incompatibility just after the game launched via its official FAQ, stating:

“No, Crimson Desert currently does not support Intel Arc graphics cards. If you purchased the game expecting Intel Arc support, please refer to the platform's refund policy for available options. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Furthermore, the studio hasn’t provided any indication of future updates or a timeline for when Crimson Desert might support existing or upcoming Intel Arc graphics cards. Right now, trying to boot Crimson Desert with an Intel Arc graphics card simply triggers an error: “The graphics device is currently not supported.”

What makes this announcement even more frustrating is that Pearl Abyss didn’t address this incompatibility from the outset. Before launch, the studio shared extensive, spec-friendly PC requirements and openly discussed Crimson Desert’s optimization efforts. However, the issue affecting Intel Arc graphics cards remained under the radar.

While the general PC specifications were revealed just a week before the game debuted, the Intel GPU–specific FAQ update was released only after the game had launched. This left many players who expected broad hardware compatibility feeling frustrated and blindsided.

On the Intel Arc subreddit, one user speculated that the omission seemed intentional and wrote, “The studio seems pretty adamant about wanting their game to perform well on all kinds of hardware configurations. They literally posted configurations and requirements for the ROG Ally. The fact that they’re releasing Crimson Desert on macOS also confirms this. I’m very disappointed, and I was looking forward to playing.”
