Crimson Desert DLC, Switch 2 port underway, as Pearl Abyss looks to broaden the game

Crimson Desert has been on a hot streak since its March launch. Pearl Abyss has been hard at work adding new features, fixes, and listening to fan feedback in order to improve the experience. The studio recently had its Q1 2026 earnings call, where it shared key achievements as well as future plans for the game.

As per the published earnings call, under the “New Pipelines and Growth Strategy” subhead, the team clearly mentions plans for DLC as ways to take the game to the next level. “In addition, we are currently exploring various ways to broaden the game to the next level, including DLC," it says. This comes as good news, as DLCs were not a focus for the team as of March-end and early April. The new development suggests Pearl Abyss feels Crimson Desert is at a place where additional content can be brought out.

Furthermore, they are also hoping to add another user base with a possible Switch 2 port, as the document states “platform expansion,” being a way to drive new sales. This isn’t the first time a Switch 2 port has been mentioned. Pearl Abyss started R&D soon after the release and shared at the time that, given the hardware limitations of the Switch 2, they would have to give up on some aspects of the game.

As of Q1 2026, Crimson Desert has brought in KRW 266.5 billion (around $179 million USD), and most of that has been from North America and EU countries. It has been a huge success for Pearl Abyss despite the lackluster storyline. The dev team, however, is fully behind the game, supporting it with frequent updates, new content, and performance optimizations.
