Oppo has announced ColorOS 16, the next major revision of its custom skin based on Android 16. The Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro will be the first phones to ship with the new software, and the public rollout for existing devices is set to kick off later this month, with Oppo providing a full list of eligible phones and tablets.
Oppo has confirmed ColorOS 16 for 43 Oppo phones and tablets. The company is currently testing the update through closed and open beta channels, and the stable rollout will begin starting October 30 in China. The Find X8 series, Find N series foldables, Find X7 series, Reno 14 series, and Reno 13 will be updated by December, while the older models like the Find X5 Pro and affordable K lineup will get the update in the first quarter of 2026. ColorOS 16 brings many notable improvements over the last version, including a revamped design "inspired by the interplay of light and shadow" in nature. The company is also making a big deal about improved UI smoothness with Seamless Animation, which promises a more fluid user experience when quickly opening and closing your apps, switching between open apps, or navigating through your widgets.
The new version also adds some nice personalization features. For example, you can use motion photos or videos as your wallpaper and choose from a wide range of different fonts—you can even ask AI to come up with styles that match your wallpaper. Next, the revamped Always-On-Display (AOD) now lets you see your full wallpaper (just like iPhone's AOD implementation) instead of displaying just key glanceable information, while the new Flux Home Screen allows users to make app icons and folders taller, wider, or larger.
