The Elegoo Centauri Carbon is a new 3D printer offering modern features at a price that probably won't break the bank. Its enclosed design provides a range of benefits.

We have already covered news related to Elegoo several times here at Notebookcheck. The company now has a new 3D printer in the pipeline: a CoreXY printer called Centauri Carbon. Printers with this design can work at high speeds. For instance, the Elegoo Centauri Carbon is capable of printing at up to 500 mm/s, with a maximum acceleration of 20,000 mm/s². Print speed and quality typically have an inverse relationship, meaning the highest speed usually doesn’t yield the best quality.

The Elegoo Centauri Carbon boasts a build volume of 256 x 256 x 256 mm (10.1 x 10.1 x 10.1 in), enabling the creation of larger objects. The enclosed design protects the workpiece and print nozzle from air draughts during the printing process. It also works in tandem with a filter to ensure users aren’t completely exposed to printer fumes, helping to prevent health hazards and strong odours.

The hot end can reach as high as 320°C (608°F), whilst the print bed can heat up to 110°C (230°F). As its name suggests, the Centauri Carbon can work with carbon filaments, allowing users to build exceptionally strong 3D models. The printer is also equipped with modern features, including a webcam for monitoring the printing process, and a touchscreen for easy adjustment of settings. Included with the product is a magnetic build plate with a textured and a smooth side. The Elegoo Centauri Carbon is set to launch soon, but pricing information hasn’t been revealed yet.
