Casio is seemingly bringing multiple Japanese launches from last month to the US market in December - with some of the more recent ones being its Urban Utility series watches. Now, Casio’s special edition G-Steel GST-B400CX-1A - previously launched earlier this month in Japan to commemorate the upcoming Year of the Snake - is now available for purchase in the US. The watch celebrates Chinese New Year with design elements inspired by the ouroboros, which is an ancient symbol that stands for infinity and renewal.
The GST-B400CX-1A features a striking diamond pattern on its black resin band, buttons, and face, which mimics snake skin, further paired with a silver metal bezel and gold accents. The watch’s case back is also engraved with an ouroboros motif - a subtle nod to the symbolism of eternal cycles.
This Casio watch has a host of modern features, including:
- Bluetooth connectivity for syncing with the Casio Watches app, which gives you automatic time adjustment, reminders, and a phone finder.
- Solar-powered charging, enhancing battery life and reducing energy consumption.
- 38 world time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, and 5 daily alarms.
Built with shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance, the GST-B400CX-1A also employs a Carbon Core Guard structure for the sake of durability, all while maintaining a slim profile of 12.9 mm. This makes it the thinnest G-Steel model to date.
There's a double LED backlight for visibility in low-light conditions, while the mix of metal and resin materials gives the watch a balance of sophistication and utility. Whether for collectors celebrating the Year of the Snake or fans of Casio’s timepieces, the GST-B400CX-1A should be a great pick.
The watch is now available for $380 on Casio’s official US website.
