Potential black Asus ROG Ally 2024 handheld refresh appears in official post as teaser for Computex launch ↺
Details recently surfaced that Asus plans to release an update to the ROG Ally gaming handheld at Computex 2024. The refreshed handheld would allegedly be called the Asus ROG Ally 2024, and while all gaming handheld fans likely have high hopes for what Asus should do with the next-generation Ally, it looks to be a minor refresh.
Now, in a recent post to social media platform X, Asus has seemingly teased the existence of the ROG Ally 2024. In the post, which celebrates the launch of the original ROG Ally, you can just barely see a black ROG Ally peaking out of a shelf to the left of the frame.
While this is far from a verified confirmation from Asus — it could just be a first-gen ROG Ally with a black skin on it — it could be a tease from the same company that announced a handheld Windows gaming PC on April Fools, as The Verge points out.
On our recent list of things we want to see from a refreshed ROG Ally, a black colourway was one of the more practical additions, and it would be easy for Asus to implement. A black Asus ROG Ally 2024 would be handy for those with concerns that the white plastic of the original Ally will get dirty after extensive use.
The original Asus ROG Ally is still available from Best Buy for $699.99, although it may go on sale again if Asus launches the Ally 2024. If you're looking for something bigger, though, Lenovo's Legion Go costs the same directly from Lenovo US and offers some features the Ally foregoes.
Can you find'em all?
