BenQ PD3225U announced as new professional monitor with macOS and MacBook modes

BenQ has presented the PD3225U, a 32-inch and 4K monitor with Thunderbolt connectivity. For reference, the PD3225U succeeds the PD3220U, which still sells for $999 on Amazon. While the PD3220U may remain impressive in its own right, BenQ's adoption of an IPS Black panel for the PD3225U doubles the former's contrast ratio to 2,000:1.

Additionally, BenQ claims that the new monitor delivers at least 400 nits peak brightness, a 33% improvement over its predecessor. Accordingly, the PD3225U is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, which BenQ complements with Pantone, Pantone SkinTone and Calman verifications. Moreover, the PD3225U offers 98% DCI-P3 colour space coverage, factory colour calibration and M-Book mode that adapts the monitor to the colour profile of a MacBook display.

On top of that, the monitor supports ICCsync within BenQ's Display Pilot 2 software for automatic ICC profile synchronisation across connected devices. Given that the PD3225U is a professional monitor, it should come as no surprise to learn that it has a 60 Hz refresh rate and 5 ms GtG response times. Still, the monitor has a Thunderbolt 3 port that can recharge a device at up to 85 W, plus DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0 and other USB ports.
