Asus ZenBook Flip 14 UX461UN
Something fresh is coming out. This year might become the year of ultra light, yet powerful notebooks. With the help of new processors from Intel and new graphics cards from Nvidia, the dream of having ultra light, yet very powerful devices is coming true. The ZenBook Flip 14 is a new series that Asus is pushing out and it is branded as the world's thinnest 2-in-1 laptop. It has 13.9 mm thickness and weighs only 1.4 kg. And hardware? It uses the 8th gen Intel i7-8550U and a dedicated Nvidia MX150 graphics card. Think about the possibilities this device provides. Equipped with a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of RAM, the performance is definitely not an issue - unless you want to game. The MX150 is not a gaming GPU. It replaces the old GeForce 940MX. Yes, it performs better, but it is still not adequate for gaming. You can play some basic games or some less demanding games but with low settings. On the other hand, it provides enough horsepower for video and picture editing. ZenBook Flip 14 series can be a game changer in 2-in-1 models. With this hardware, the performance it delivers is quite amazing. There is almost nothing you can not do; again just forget about the gaming. Moreover, you have a very light device that you can use in different modes, which can also take care of almost all demanding applications. Besides you get close to 14 hours of possible usage. That is more than enough for a work day. Also quick charge has to be mentioned. According to specs, 60 % charge takes only about 49 minutes. There will be other variations including 15 inch versions with Thunderbolt. However, for 14 inch models there seems to be no reference to a Thunderbolt 3 port. Which could have been nice when thinking about connecting an external GPU and playing games. But this will not be possible. Instead you get a normal USB 3.0 connection, a USB-C connection and a full size HDMI output. There is also a microSD slot. Is it future proof? Debatable. Would it be if there was a Thunderbolt 3 port? Yes, definitely. But still, this device is pretty capable of almost anything. The screen has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels; pretty standard. But what makes it unique is it feels almost like it has no bezel. You can almost use the whole view area. Of course the touchscreen will have to prove itself for outside use. The test devices at IFA are not enough to provide good data in this area. Should you buy it? Or who should buy it? I would recommend this device mostly to power users who need raw power to deal with complex excel spreadsheet or will be running analytical processes and then needs to present. Just make your calculation, turn your screen and voila everyone is impressed. The Asus ZenBook Flip 14 UX461UN can be a good choice. But, it may not come cheap. If you do not need the performance, mobility is not your first pick and you are on budget, the Lenovo Yoga 720 models can be a better alternative. Hands-on article by Ümit Yılmaz GüneşThe Asus ZenBook Flip 14 UX461UN claims to be the world's thinnest 2-in-1 to use discrete graphics, which makes it a thin and light creative powerhouse, with the added versatility of a 360°-flippable touchscreen and Asus Pen support to take users beyond the boundaries of a traditional laptop. Great build quality, fast processor/graphics card and dependable battery life are common qualities of an ultrabook, but the ZenBook Flip 14 takes that up a notch by giving users slightly more processing power. The ZenBook series sets the standards for thin, light and elegant laptops, and the ZenBook Flip 14 is no exception. Its all-aluminum design is just 13.9 mm thin and 1.4 kg light, it has an ultra-compact footprint that packs a 14-inch screen into less hardware than many 13-inch models. The lid features the iconic Zen-inspired spun-metal finish that adds a unique touch of luxury, and the user can choose from two sophisticated colors - Icicle Gold and Slate Grey. The 14-inch NanoEdge display on the ZenBook Flip 14 has an ultra-thin bezel, which means it fits into a much smaller frame than a standard panel. In fact, the frame is comparable in size to many 13-inch laptops. It also gives the ZenBook Flip 14 an impressive 80% screen-to-body ratio in this area. It features 178° wide-view technology, 100% sRGB color gamut, exclusive Asus Splendid with Asus Eye Care technology, and Asus Tru2Life Video technology.
With the latest 8th-generation Intel Core i7 8550U quad-core processor, high-performance NVIDIA GeForce MX150 discrete graphics, 16 GB of RAM and an ultrafast 512GB PCIe SSD, the ZenBook Flip 14 will never keep users waiting. It provides solid performance that enables extensive multitasking. Asus packed 59 watt-hours of battery capacity into this laptop, which compares to the 63 watt-hours in the Spectre x360 13 and the hefty 70 watt-hours in the Yoga 920. Combined with the highly efficient Intel Core i7-8550U when running less demanding productivity tasks, one can expect a full day’s worth of battery life. The device offers excellent battery life, providing approximately 9 hours of runtime, which involves continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi. The keyboard has an excellent backlight, but similar travel to the MacBook Pro’s butterfly keyboard. The touchpad is smooth and includes a sensor with Windows Hello fingerprint protection. The Harman/Kardon-branded speakers on the Asus ZenBook Flip 14 provide enough power to fill a medium-sized conference room. The included Audio Wizard sound-adjustment app offers presets based on different kinds of content. Port-wise, the ZenBook 14 is decently equipped: two USB-3.0 ports, a 3.1-USB-C port (non-Thunderbolt 3, not for charging the laptop), HDMI out, a charging port, a microSD-card slot, and, finally, a 3.5-mm audio jack.

The ZenBook Flip lineup has been around for a while now but the new generation featuring a familiar, yet fresh design and the best of what Intel and NVIDIA can offer, for now, is a game-changer. Even though the chassis is entirely made of aluminum, it’s impressively thin, light and doesn’t trip the performance of the CPU and GPU, although we found the system struggling to keep Core i7-8550U’s boost frequency for a long time. In short workloads and everyday use, the issue won’t be noticed.

The ZenBook Flip 14 may not have the level of polish the last Lenovo Yoga had, but unlike the Yoga, it has a discrete graphics chip, the latest Intel chip, and it still has the ability to keep good battery life. It just won’t win any games.

And if you're wondering "why would I want to play games on a 17-inch laptop display?", Asus also announced the new ROG Strix XG35VQ, a curved 35-inch UWQHD (3,440×1,440 pixel) curved monitor with a 100Hz refresh rate, Adaptive-Sync technology and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Versatile. TThe ZenBook Flip 14 pleases with a fashionable metal case, an illuminated keyboard, and a good battery life. Not only can the touchscreen be operated with your fingers but also using the input pen which Asus sells separately. However, in terms of the equipment, Asus has made a few decisions that are questionable.

ASUS ZenBook Flip UX461UA Review – CAST YOUR EYES over today’s PC market and you’ll largely see a tale of woe, but there’s one bright spot among the carnage in the form of 2-in-1s — the only PC category that’s still seeing substantial growth, with detachables and convertibles continuing to steal a lot of customers from the shrinking tablet market. From a consumer perspective, we guess it makes some sense to put a bit of extra money into a laptop to gain the ability to also use it as a tablet — and in some cases, that extra spend will also net you a faster SSD, a more powerful CPU or even, in some cases, a dedicated GPU for better gaming chops..

That was the detailed ASUS ZenBook Flip 14 (UM462) review. So summing up, the ASUS Zenbook Flip 14 is a worthy 2 in 1 convertible laptop with good design and build, performance and battery life. The only downside is probably the dim display and also not the best audio experience. But if you in the market for a mid-range convertible laptop, then Zenbook Flip 14 is a worthy device.

The Asus ZenBook Flip 14 is a good convertible laptop, which has some key characteristics to it compared to the competition. The primary strength of the laptop is its performance as it is sufficient for most of the students and professionals usages and with the ability to be able to run some older games at decent graphics settings even without a dedicated GPU, not many convertible machines at this price point can manage that.

The Asus ZenBook Flip 14 is great at being a conventional laptop in that it packs a modern AMD processor with 8GB of RAM and ample solid-state storage. What’s more, it has a great keyboard and touchpad setup along with a bright and colourful screen. But it fails at being a great tablet by a considerable margin. And that’s because it’s got a disappointingly short battery life and a hefty frame. In addition, its bundled stylus could do with better on-screen response for drawing and on-board storage space.

Convertible laptops aren't without flaws and the Asus ZenBook Flip 14 naturally has some. But the negatives of the Flip 14 are highly outnumbered by what the ZenBook Flip 14 is good at. Of all the convertible Windows laptops I have used this year, the ZenBook Flip 14 is easily the best one that ticks all the right boxes. It's built like a tank, has more than enough performance to handle all basic computing tasks and even some casual gaming, and is quite practical to use as a tablet. I wish the battery life could have been better but at Rs 64,990, it doesn't make sense to complain much.

On the bright side, you still get a PCIe x4 support from the M.2 slot, and a MicroSD card reader for the creators out there. To be honest, we can clearly see how this laptop is meant for creators, especially for designers and artists, who are going to enjoy working on the pretty screen. Now, of course, a question arises – is it better to have a typical 2-in-1 such as the ZenBook Flip 14 UX463, or get into the dual-display concept with the ZenBook Duo UX481? Tell us in the comments if you would like us to make a comparison between the two.

Asus is launching a robust convertible on the market in the form of the Zenbook Flip 14 OLED. This boasts an excellent 14-inch OLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 3K resolution in the popular 16:10 format. But this is not the only feature that shines. Find out the other advantages and disadvantages in the following review.

The Asus ZenBook 14 Flip OLED is a great option for someone who wants a premium Windows convertible laptop experience. The 14-inch 2.8K OLED display and the Ryzen 9 5900H processor certainly make for compelling reasons to consider this over its rivals from Dell and HP at this price. The overall build quality as well as the choice of I/O ports add to the appeal as well. However, Asus is launching this laptop at a time when the AMD Ryzen 6000 series processors are making their way to high-end Windows laptops. Hence, investing this much money into a laptop offering a last-gen processor does not seem sensible. Asus could have offered this laptop with the latest generation Ryzen 6000 series processor. On the whole, those seeking a great viewing experience and fast performance with a solid build and design should check out the Asus ZenBook 14 Flip OLED once.

It’s a substantial sum of money. The Zenbook 14 Flip is not inexpensive, with a starting price of ₹1,34,990. It’s a high-end Windows convertible with an OLED screen, a powerful processor, and numerous I/O connections. The Asus ZenBook Flip 14 works well as a traditional laptop, thanks to its current AMD processor, 8GB of RAM, and enough solid-state storage. It features a great keyboard and touchpad, as well as a bright screen, but it flops miserably as a tablet. It has a heavy frame and a frustratingly limited battery life. Furthermore, its stylus and onboard storage space should be improved. The ZenBook Flip 14 is a good choice for customers who desire a traditional laptop but also wish to dabble with convertible computing. The ZenBook 14, on the other hand, is better for consumers who are confident they don’t want a hybrid device. But don’t get me wrong. The Zenbook 14 is a fantastic combination of work and play, and I’ve had a lovely week with it. The display alone makes the laptop worthwhile to acquire. The Zenbook 14 Flip is not designed for business users or gamers but is suitable for everyone else.

At Rs 1,34,990 and above, the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED is among the most versatile devices you can buy. This is well in the space of the SurfaceBook and appeals to a lot of pro users because of the specifications and accessories. But, yeah it is a pricey device and those considering it should also consider if they really need the extra features.

ASUS ZenBook 14 Flip OLED is a convenient functional solution for work and creativity for those looking for a quality 2-in-1 device. The manufacturer managed to fit a stunning 14-inch touchscreen OLED display with productive hardware into a fairly small body with a relatively wide set of interfaces. Special praise is due to the efficient cooling system, which, in turn, made it possible to implement AIPT technology and go beyond the usual performance level of the Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor in the class of transformer laptops.

The Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP5401) impressed us with its versatility and overall performance. From elegant design to great display and fast charging, there is a lot on the plate to offer. However, I feel the battery life could have been better, especially for the price range at which it is being offered. It also comes with a stylus inside the box to enhance the touchscreen experience. The Zenbook gets tough competition from Apple MacBook Air with M1 chip, which thrashes it with a stellar battery life and greater performance. However, if you prefer using a windows laptop with a great display and simple user experience, this Asus Zenbook is a considerable choice. Meanwhile, other Windows convertible laptops competing with the Zenbook 14 Flip include Dell Inspiron 14 5410 2-in-1 at a comparatively lower price, among others.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
