Reviews for the Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14
The Aspire 5 scores points thanks to its powerful Raptor Lake processor, Thunderbolt 4 and amazing runtimes. Acer have equipped the laptop with a 14-inch touchscreen display (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) in a 16:10 format. An active stylus completes the setup.

At an RRP of R19 999 from the likes of Takealot or the Acer SA online store, the Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14 provides a serviceable “business” notebook experience. We could see a notebook with the same hardware going for less, but then it wouldn’t feature the folding aspect nor the stylus and touchscreen capabilities. While these features add a host of different ways to use the notebook, you can get virtually the same functionality with an additional digital drawing tablet. More affordable than its contemporaries from ASUS, the Aspire 5 provides solid performance but lacking discrete graphics limits the uses of the machine. What you get is a mixed bag, and users will have to weigh up what their needs are before they decide on this notebook or a similarly priced one with better hardware and no foldability.

The Acer Aspire 5 Spin 14 (2023) is a solid mid-range laptop with the powers of a 2-in-1. It looks good and offers up some excellent power under hood and some good endurance to boot. The display is fine for everyday work, although it offers middling brightness and colour accuracy. It is also quite heavy for a laptop of its size.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
