Asus TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7800 XT OC in a duel against the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super
In contrast to Nvidia, AMD didn't update the 7000 series of its desktop graphics cards. Taking the Asus TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7800 XT OC as an example, we took another look at the performance of the midrange GPU, analyzing it using numerous games. The AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT basically offers an adequate performance, and we were able to play all our tested games smoothly in 1440p and at maximum details. Most of the time, the performance is even sufficient for 2160p.
In our comparison with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070, there is no clear winner if you consider the pure gaming performance. However, in combination with raytracing, AMD is clearly surpassed. In addition, AMD's current models are less efficient than Nvidia. Our test unit is the Asus TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7800 XT OC, which visually embodies the known TUF design. The workmanship offers an extremely high quality, and the manufacturer uses a lot of metal, which makes the graphics card very robust overall. The cooling system design includes three 100-millimeter (~3.9 in) fans that cool the graphics card reliably and quietly. But compared to the reference model, the model from Asus is significantly larger, which should be considered in the choice of the case. In terms of the price, the Asus TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7800 XT OC is slightly more expensive than other models with the RX 7800 XT graphics chip.
