China-based GPU manufacturer Zephyr has introduced a new graphics card model, the GeForce RTX 4070 Sakura Snow X. A notable feature of this graphics card is its all-CNC-machined metal shroud, including an integrated I/O bracket.
Zephyr specializes in custom GPUs, often focusing on compact designs. The company previously announced a "world's first" ITX form factor RTX 4070 model last year. While newer GPU generations are available, Zephyr's product choices often cater to specific small form factor (SFF) build requirements where factors other than maximum performance may be prioritized.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Sakura Snow X features construction materials not commonly found on single-fan, Mini-ITX graphics cards. While GPU shrouds are typically made from plastic — or sometimes include metal components on larger, higher-tier cards, — the Sakura Snow X features a shroud fully machined from aluminum using precise CNC processes. This results in a solid construction. Rendered images show the card as white, while photographs indicate a metallic grey finish. Measuring 176×127×41 mm (L×W×H) excluding the bracket, the dual-slot, single-fan design complies with Nvidia's small form factor guidelines.
The card features standard RTX 4070 specifications: an AD104-250 die with 5,888 CUDA cores, a base frequency of 1,920 MHz, and a boost frequency of 2,475 MHz. The model includes 12 GB of GDDR6X memory on a 192-bit bus and provides three DisplayPort outputs along with one HDMI output. Despite being an older generation card, the RTX 4070 remains competitive, performing just 16% slower than its Blackwell successor.
A single 105-mm diameter fan, along with the innovative cooler shroud, has contributed to a reduction in operating temperature by 6°C compared to the RTX 4070 Sakura, another Mini-ITX graphics card from Zephyr.
The Zephyr GeForce RTX 4070 Sakura Snow X is available exclusively on Chinese e-commerce platforms for 4,399 RMB (approximately $605).
