Deal | Excellent RX 7800 XT receives big price drops in new Amazon Prime Day and Newegg discounts
When AMD launched the Radeon RX 7800 XT in September 2023, the mid-range segment of the GPU market was not in good shape. On one hand, you had the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB that cost $450 but offered disappointing performance for the price. On the other hand, you had the much more expensive RTX 4070 that, although a fair bit faster than the RTX 4060 Ti, brought only 12 GB of VRAM.
So, the mid-range GPU market was ready for a 16GB VRAM card that was cheaper than the RTX 4070 while matching the performance. AMD delivered just that with the RX 7800 XT.
At a launch MSRP of $499, the RX 7800 XT only cost $50 more than the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB while delivering the same amount of VRAM, and a double-digit performance bump. Compared to the RTX 4070, the Radeon GPU had 4 GB more VRAM and a $50 cheaper price.
Keeping this in mind, any discount that brings the RX 7800 XT lower in price makes the GPU a superb deal. To that end, the RX 7800 XT has now dropped to only $427.47 for Amazon Prime members and $449.97 for non-Prime customers. According to camelcamelcamel, $449.97 is the lowest price for the XFX Speedster QICK319 RX 7800 XT on sale.
Additionally, Newegg also has the RX 7800 XT on sale at a big discount, as the dual-fan XFX SPEEDSTER SWFT210 Radeon RX 7800 XT is going for only $429.99.
These price drops coincide with the ongoing deals for the RX 7700 XT, the RX 7900 XT, and the RX 7900 XTX which makes us believe that AMD has de-facto cut the prices of these GPUs.
RX 7800 XT offers awesome price/performance
Considering the latest discounts, the price/performance offered by the RX 7800 XT is very good. Per our testing, the stock RX 7800 XT is 38% faster than the Asus Dual RTX 4060 Ti OC in synthetic benchmarks. While a significant variance exists in gaming performance as some titles prefer Nvidia GPUs to Radeon cards, the RX 7800 XT is quite a bit faster than the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB and matches the RTX 4070 overall.
In short, the current RX 7800 XT discounts give gamers who can’t wait for the next-gen RDNA 4 cards a solid reason to upgrade.
