Deal | Flagship RX 7900 XTX leaves RTX 4080 Super far behind in price/performance with current lowest-ever price

When we revisited the Radeon RX 7900 XTX in July 2024, we declared the GPU “a good price-performance alternative to the current Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super”. This is because not only does the RX 7900 XTX perform at a high level but the GPU does so with more VRAM and at a price that is typically less than the RTX 4080 Super.

The pricing delta between the RX 7900 XTX and the RTX 4080 Super has now increased even further. The PowerColor Hellhound RX 7900 XTX is now retailing for only $819.99 on Amazon. This record-low price of the card is $120 lower than the $999.99 launch MSRP.

RX 7900 XTX is an excellent QHD/4K GPU

While we are likely only a few months away from next-generation GPUs, the RX 7900 XTX is still a beastly card that will keep you satisfied for years to come, especially since it packs a healthy 24 GB of memory. Per our testing, the GPU can run extremely demanding games like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at 60+ FPS at QHD/ultra settings.

Additionally, the RX 7900 XTX also manages commendable 4K gaming with titles like Alan Wake 2 and Dragon’s Dogma 2 running at 60 FPS and 90 FPS using ultra-quality graphics.

Moreover, the RX 7900 XTX starts to make even more sense when you consider the possible discontinuation of the RTX 4080 Super and the absence of any high-end RDNA 4 cards.

So, if you want a 4K GPU that doesn’t break the bank, the RX 7900 XT seems like the only real option at this point.
