RX 7650 GRE: AMD to debut new budget-friendly RDNA 3 GPU at CES 2025
CES 2025 is shaping up to be a big event for gamers as both Nvidia and AMD are set to introduce a range of new GPUs and CPUs.
For starters, chances are quite high that the next-generation RTX 50 “Blackwell” GPUs will debut at CES 2025. Not to be left behind, AMD is also expected to unveil the RDNA 4-based cards at the occasion. We can also see some Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs, possibly the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and the Ryzen 9 9900X3D, break cover at the event.
As if that wasn’t enough, Hoang Anh Phu claims on X that AMD will reveal a new RDNA 3-based Radeon RX 7650 GRE GPU at CES 2025. This is the first time that we’re hearing about the existence of an RX 7650 GRE, so details are quite scarce. However, we can expect the card to be limited to certain regions like the RX 7900 GRE, at least for a while.
The RX 7650 GRE is rather intriguing, since the only other RX 7000 GRE GPU, the RX 7900 GRE, is a pretty solid mid-range card (Available on Amazon).
RX 7650 GRE specifications
Going by the name and the positioning of the RX 7900 GRE, the RX 7650 GRE should sit somewhere between the RX 7600 and the RX 7600 XT (Available on Amazon). So, we might be looking at a board that matches the RX 7600 and RX 7600 XT in CU count (32) while packing more than 8 GB of VRAM and a similar boost clock to the RX 7600 XT.
However, the “50” in the name might also mean that the RX 7650 GRE slots between the RX 7600 XT and the RX 7700 XT. In this case, we can expect a cut-down Navi 32 chip featuring 12 or 16 GB of RAM, up to a 192-bit bus, and between 32-54 CUs.
For pricing, the RX 7650 GRE will likely be lower than the RX 7700 XT and could fall between $300-400.
That said, this is all just speculation on our part, as we have no official hardware details regarding the GPU. So, all we can do now is wait and see if AMD actually releases an RX 7650 GRE at CES 2025.
