Reviews for the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 GU605M
Asus' new ROG Zephyrus G16 features a completely new and considerably slimmer design, with a target market in mind that goes beyond just gamers. The resulting product is a high-quality 16-inch laptop with an impressive OLED panel and excellent speakers that can easily compete with Apple's MacBook Pro or the Razer Blade 16. Update: 240 Hz screen refresh rate battery life tests added

The Zephyrus G14 starts at $2,199, and the G16 starts at $2,299, though notably, these starting prices are for less powerful variants of the laptops than what I tested that sport 16GB of RAM and 4060 Laptop GPUs, among other differences. Depending on how intense you want to spec out the Zephyrus laptops, they can get as high as $4,499, though I’m not sure I’d recommend spending that much on a laptop. The main argument I see for both the G14 and G16 is that the laptops, pricey as they are, are effectively a two-for-one deal. You get a powerful laptop that’s capable for work and gaming. It’s a tempting offer, especially if you can’t splurge on both a solid portable laptop and a tricked-out gaming desktop.

If you're looking for a gaming laptop that doubles as a productivity powerhouse, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is worth considering. It blends the performance of a gaming laptop with the aesthetics of a more traditional, professional device. This makes it ideal for those who need a machine for both serious work and gaming. However, keep in mind that its slim design leads to reduced performance under intense workloads and a shorter battery life. If you often work on the go and depend on long battery life, this could be a significant issue. But if you're mostly using your laptop at a desk near a power source, the benefits of the Zephyrus G16 might outweigh these drawbacks. I think if you value a laptop that offers strong performance, a great screen, and good connectivity, without the typical gaming laptop appearance, the Zephyrus G16 is worth considering.

This 2024 Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 series is a well-rounded update in the premium class of all-purpose portable notebooks. The premium craftsmanship, the excellent inputs, display, audio and ports, and the balanced performance in multitasking and demanding loads are among its main selling points, while on the other hand, potential buyers need to be aware of the power particularities and the toasty temperatures that are to be expected with sustained activities on this design.

Sleek, powerful and bursting with potential, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 has its hat in the running for one of the best gaming laptops page, provided its fancy new Intel Meteor Lake chip can live up to the hype performance-wise. The AI portion is definitely intriguing, but until I see something that will benefit gamers specifically, those are the benchmarks I’m going to live and die by. So far we’ve seen promising numbers, but the verdict’s out until we get our hands on a final production unit. The redesign is eye-catching and I love a svelte system that I can take with me on the road without fear of inducing back pain down the line that can still kick some ass. Because depending on the already battle-test Nvidia RTX 4000 series, the G16 is a bonafide ass kicker. I just hope the speakers and keyboard are better on the final model, but as it stands, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 holds plenty of promise.

Due to the lack of new GPUs from NVIDIA at CES 2024, ASUS could have refreshed the processors in its flagship gaming laptop line and simply called it a day. But much to my delight, ASUS still went and completely redesigned the ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 and it feels like the company may have struck the perfect balance between performance and a more sophisticated take on the gamer aesthetic.

As CES 2024 ramps up, Asus kicked things off with a new line of ROG Zephyrus gaming laptops that, much to my surprise, are thin and light enough to allow for easy portability. I actually wrote this on the bigger of the two laptops, the Zephyrus G16, which Asus sent me ahead of the announcement to test out. Unfortunately, I can’t dig into performance and benchmarks yet (stay tuned for a full review in the coming weeks!), I can say it has me rethinking my staunch position on gaming laptops. From my first impressions after using the Zephyrus G16 for a little over a week, Asus managed to offer a reasonably thin-and-light laptop while still boasting significant performance and gaming capabilities. Plus, the simple design looks vague MacBook-ish, meaning it shouldn’t stand out like the typically garish designs we see on gaming laptops. The Zephyrus sports a CNC-machined aluminum chassis, which helps with the weight. It’s also quite sturdy, with virtually no flex.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
