Instead, the GPU is the source of its AI capabilities, marking no difference from other RTX-powered offerings on the market. It also doesn’t help that the brand’s software solution, the Gigabyte AI Nexus, seems to be stuffed into the mix just because, featuring an unintuitive layout and missing explanations on how the AI elements will enrich the user’s experience. That’s not to say the laptop isn’t capable of executing AI tasks – there’s more than enough oomph to go around, but don’t expect any groundbreaking encounters. Starting a little high at S$2,199 for a mid-ranger, the Gigabyte Aorus 16X presents a convincing show of justification through its snappy, solid performance, stylish flair, impressive cooling, and sublime display.

The Gigabyte Aorus 16X offers solid hardware at a reasonable price, targeting a more “premium” laptop experience rather than being a bargain like the less-expensive Gigabyte G6X. With an RTX 4070 GPU, it is competitively priced among laptops in its range. The Aorus 16X delivers class-leading results in many key areas, optimized well for gaming at ideal settings for the hardware. The powerful i9-14900HX CPU, combined with Gigabyte’s Windforce cooling system, provides some of the best CPU performance observed. The battery life stands out, achieving eight hours of everyday use and almost two hours of actual gaming unplugged, which is excellent for a gaming laptop. The design is compact yet feature-rich, with premium elements like a large battery, advanced cooling system, high-quality LCD screen, and extensive port selection.

Like any gaming laptop the fans built into the AORUS 16X will fire up when you are gaming. This is expected, and the fans are decently loud. I would say if you have a gaming headset on you really won’t notice the noise that much. The fans do turn off after your gaming session and during normal operation the laptop is very quiet. It is also nice to see that you can upgrade this laptop. While many laptops have soldered RAM, here we find SODIMM slots to upgrade your memory and there are two M.2 slots so you can add a second drive yourself or upgrade the original drive to a higher capacity one no problem. I think that if you are looking for a gaming laptop in this range the AORUS 16X is a very solid choice. Right now you can pick up this exact model that we reviewed today for $1649.00. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Gigabyte AORUS 16X (2024) Gaming Laptop is 9 out of 10 score.

In the ever-crowded arena of gaming laptops, it’s hard to stand out—and performance-wise, the Gigabyte Aorus 16X doesn’t. It has a few moments of dominance, then settles back comfortably into the middle of the pack. In our testing, the Aorus 16X repeatedly demonstrated that it will deliver serviceable numbers and an edgy-enough design that will satisfy most gamers, especially considering the price. However, gamers yearning for more power should consider the Alienware m16 R2 or the Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 9 as viable alternatives.

Yes, it’s another gaming laptop, but it could be one of the last of its kind before the onslaught of AI-focused Snapdragon notebooks begins. The Gigabyte Aorus 16X packs some decent specs, and thanks to the simple measure of stuffing more battery into its chassis than many comparable laptops, it manages a very respectable battery life too. It may be big, heavy and hot, but the performance isn’t bad at all. It exists in a very competitive segment of the market, however, and you’ll need to be sure it’s the one for you before you buy it.

Laptops like this have had their thunder massively stolen by Microsoft with its Copilot+ announcement, and the associated laptops all running on Snapdragon chips. Being a Raptor Lake Refresh chip, the CPU doesn't have the NPU shenanigans of a Meteor Lake Core Ultra, and it remains unclear which of the Copilot+ features will run on it once they're released. For an RTX 4070 gaming laptop in 2024 the Aorus 16X is solid. You'll pay a lot more for any more power, and with its bright 16in screen (even though it's not an OLED) it'll play anything you can throw at it for years.

The Gigabyte Aorus 16X offers solid hardware at a reasonable price. Gigabyte is going for a more “premium” laptop experience here, so it’s not a bargain that offers unusual value for at its retail price like the less-expensive Gigabyte G6X. The Aorus 16X is an RTX 4070-powered gaming laptop that is similarly priced to many other laptops in its price range. Overall, this is a good laptop. It performs well, the display is beautiful, and everything about it feels very nice to use. But that’s true about a lot of gaming laptops around the $2,000 mark. Consider the $1,849 Alienware m16 R2, for example: It also has an RTX 4070 GPU. The display is dimmer, but it offers a higher 240Hz refresh rate. It has less RAM and doesn’t have Wi-Fi 7, but its power connector is in a more convenient place and it’s $100 cheaper.

The GIGABYTE AORUS 16X is a great update to the lineup. The new design has a number of improvements that have made the laptop look much more pleasant, while reducing its size and weight. At the same time, the new model managed to add minimal performance, leaving the user with some room for independent memory upgrades. There are also a few minor flaws, but they definitely didn't reach the status of "critical". Therefore, the new AORUS 16X is still worth adding to the list of candidates for purchase when choosing the next laptop for gaming and creative work.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
