Apple iPhone 17 series to get new model in place of iPhone 17 Plus as key details of devices leak
While Apple is yet to release the iPhone 16 series officially, we are already hearing rumblings regarding the 2025 iPhone 17 smartphones. Past leaks have alleged things like the anti-reflective displays for the iPhone 17 phones, a smaller iPhone 17 Plus, and the A19 Pro SoC for the iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max that may or may not be made with TSMC’s 2 nm process.
Courtesy of Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities, we now have even more iPhone 17 information to digest including key specifications and a new iPhone 17 Slim model (via 9to5Mac).
Starting with the most interesting one, Jeff Pu reports that Apple will replace the iPhone 17 Plus with a new model. Called the iPhone 17 Slim, the phone will focus on thinness and bring a 6.6-inch display, 8 GB of RAM, and A18 or A19 SoC. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Slim will reportedly carry an aluminum chassis.
Like the iPhone 17 Slim, the base iPhone 17 will be aluminum, carry 8 GB of memory, and an A18 or A19 chip per Jeff Pu. The analyst sees the screen size to remain at 6.1 inches like the iPhone 15 (Available Renewed on Amazon).
For the Pro models, Apple is reportedly preparing the Aluminum iPhone 17 Pro and the Titanium iPhone 17 Pro Max with 6.3 and 6.9-inch panels, matching the rumored dimensions of the iPhone 16 Pro and the 16 Pro Max respectively. The iPhone 17 Pro/Max could also feature 12 GB of RAM and an A19 Pro SoC. As a reference, the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are to keep the 8 GB capacities of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max (Buy Renewed on Amazon).
Finally, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, like the rest of the lineup, is expected to bring a 24 MP front camera. The device is also said to enjoy a slimmed-down Dynamic Island thanks to Apple’s “metalens” proximity sensor.
Overall, the iPhone 17 series is shaping up nicely with improvements across the board. But, as rumors are often misleading, take the information presented here with a grain of salt.
