Although the Apple Mac mini is very powerful thanks to the Apple M6, it offers only a limited selection of ports, while Apple’s SSD upgrades are extremely expensive. The latest Wokyis M6 docking station addresses this very issue and, at the same time, adds a display to the mini PC.

Wokyis has unveiled the successor to the M5 docking station. The brand-new M6 not only looks sleeker but also offers several new features. The basic concept remains the same – the Apple Mac mini ($879 on Amazon) connects to the dock via USB-C, making the setup more reminiscent of a Macintosh Classic than a modern desktop computer.

The front features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels – too small to be used as a primary screen, but handy for displaying widgets. Behind a magnetic flap on the back is an M.2-2280 slot, which makes it easy to expand the mini PC’s storage. Wokyis adds four buttons and a rotary control on the front, which can be used, for example, to control music playback and volume.

As befits a dock, the Mac mini is also expanded with numerous ports, including four USB-A (10 Gbit/s) ports, one USB-A (480 Mbit/s) port, and an SD and microSD card reader. For power, Wokyis recommends a 100-watt USB-C power adapter, which is not included. With this power output, it is possible, for example, to charge a MacBook connected to the dock with up to 65 watts. The docking station is also compatible with MacBooks, the Mac Studio, a Windows PC, a Raspberry Pi, or select Android smartphones.

Pricing and availability

The Wokyis M6 docking station is now available for $169.99 in the manufacturer’s online store. Wokyis also ships internationally, but the price does not include shipping and import fees.
