The Acer Swift X is a laptop that can easily fit into most users’ work flows. After all, it’s got the power to handle productivity and creative use cases, while still being as thin and light as a regular ultrabook. It’s really impressive. Just keep in mind the downsides of this machine. It does still have a 720p webcam, and the performance does suffer when not connected to power. There’s a lot of bloatware, but that’s a one-time issue to fix. It just provides so much value at $1,099. Weighing in at barely over three pounds, it comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U processor, RTX 3050 Ti graphics, a 512GB SSD, and 16GB RAM. Like I said, that’s easy to justify for most users.

The Acer Swift X is a strikingly successful example of the art of squeezing seriously powerful components into a surprisingly small space, which makes for an impressively versatile machine. The powerful GPU/CPU combination gives it the capability to play games and run demanding creative jobs, while the display is both colourful and accurate enough for professional image and video work. Add to that the reasonably decent battery life, impressively compact and lightweight design and perfectly reasonable price and you have a solid recommendation.

Who doesn't like a good mashup? The Swift X is one-part gaming laptop, one-part ultraportable. Placing an AMD Ryzen 5000 CPU and Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti in the Swift X was a stroke of genius. And even better, these components don't take much of a hit to battery life as the Swift endured for more than 9 hours on a charge. Acer then went a step further by pricing the ultra-portable at around $1,000, making it less expensive than its direct competitors.

The Acer Swift X retails for $999 but what makes it special is the fact that it comes with a Ryzen 7 5800U and a dedicated GPU (RTX 3050 ti), making it a very reasonable option for students going back to school who want something thin and light but with a dedicated GPU. It's not perfect but there's a lot to like. Watch for the full review!

The Acer Swift X looks to be a budget-friendly laptop that brings some serious power to a no-frills laptop chassis. It might be bland with some large bezels, but if you just want something that gets the job done, the Acer Swift X should probably be on your list.

The Swift X helps Acer's middle-range laptops enter the fast lane thanks to discrete graphics being on board. The entry-level model bags Nvidia RTX 3050 for under a four-figure asking price. It's a shame there's not more ports (or more diverse ones) - it's just the one USB-C here - and some aspects of the build, such as the plastic screen bezel, could be a little better. But, elsewhere, the colourful lid options and aluminium frame ensure an overall quality. So if you're looking for a portable yet discreet-looking laptop with big power but without a big price tag, the Acer Swift X ought to have plenty to offer.

The Acer Swift is an affordable all-around device that may lack in the style department, but offers solid productivity and light gaming experiences out-of-the-box. Where the Swift X mostly stumbles are its connectivity which can be slow at many times thanks to the outdated MediaTek Wi-Fi configuration and the excessive software bloat the comes paired with the laptop out of the box. Besides spending about 30 minutes setting up personal Windows configurations, savvier users will probably spend another half hour to hour hunting down and uninstalling about a dozen useless resource hogging applications and suggested software on the Swift X. However, for around $950, what's two hours of set up for a device with above average battery life, dedicated NVIDIA GPUs and mobile processor that offers a relatively quiet and cool computing experience?

This Acer SwiftX 14 is a balanced performance ultraportable able of snappy daily-use multitasking and some good capabilities in light workloads and games. It's also built well, offers a fair-quality matte IPS screen, alright IO, and long battery life. My gripes with this design are the single-fan thermal module that blows hot air into the screen and the poor audio quality, as well as the white-lit mushy keyboard. All in all, though, this is a good-value choice at around 1000-1100 USD/EUR, as long as you're willing to trade the performance you would get on a full-size laptop within a similar budget for the portability of this laptop.

The Acer Swift X is not the perfect laptop. I’d prefer a better display, an improved touchpad, and more reliable Wi-Fi. Acer should also work on its chassis design for its budget laptops, as this has been a consistent oversight with the company's laptops in the Aspire and Swift line. Take one glance at the laptop’s performance and these problems melt away. Yes, a sleek and modern design with carbon fiber weave or laser-cut edges is nice, but that won’t make Far Cry run more smoothly or complete a Blender render more quickly. But if you care about the physical appearance of your laptop, the MacBook Air and Asus Vivobook line deliver roughly comparable performance and better materials at a slightly higher price. With an MSRP above $1,000, the Swift X model I reviewed typically sells below that all-important watermark. If you’re on an even tighter budget, Acer sells an alternative model with a Ryzen 5 5600U processor and RTX 3050 GPU that’s even less expensive. Shoppers looking for a fast yet portable laptop shouldn’t pass by the Acer Swift X. It’s an outstanding value.

As mentioned, the 2022 Acer Swift X (with model numbers starting SFX14-51G instead of this unit's SFX14-41G) is a different design with a sharper 2,240-by-1,440-pixel display; it's also slightly lighter at 3.09 pounds. That makes it tempting, but it's likely to cost more than the AMD-based Swift X here. The latter fills a kind of neither-fish-nor-fowl niche—it's a bit heavier than an ultraportable and falls short of a full-fledged gaming rig or workstation—but it's a speedy compromise at a fair price. The Swift X doesn't earn Editors' Choice honors, but it definitely has its attractions, if you need a little bit more power (CPU and GPU alike) for the money in a mainstream machine.

At the end of the day, the current Acer Swift X really is my favourite laptop on the market right now. I think if I was heading off to college or university right now, the Acer Swift X would be the absolute ideal companion. It packs all the performance I need for work, while still having the capabilities for some time off when gaming. Battery life is also solid enough to allow for a whole day of classes if I tweaked the settings a bit. Even anyone seeking a cheap entry-level gaming laptop might want to consider this one. It’s a bit of a shame that it took until October of last year for it to arrive on our shores really, but until the next generation Acer Swift X appears, this will perhaps be the best laptop for anyone wanting portable performance while on a budget.

To summarize this Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 review, this unit is blazingly fast. This laptop is in the same league and even outperforms Dell XPS and Macbooks, for much less $$. And you can play some games on it due to its iGPU and dedicated GPU that are normally found on a gaming laptop. Sure, you can find other laptops that are more powerful than this, but you’re going to sacrifice the weight and the battery life.

All in all, the Swift X's performance does resemble the Swift 3X in some ways, albeit with more power due to the AMD Ryzen 5000 mobile CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU. It's very much a productivity laptop designed for content creators who are on the go. Honestly, I can't really nitpick as there isn't anything bad about it. It works well, the battery's life is quite durable, and it can handle a decent media workload. If the RM4999 price tag is a bit too much for you, you can always go for the AMD Ryzen 5 + 8GB RAM variant at RM4299. That said, the price is probably the only downside, but you get what you pay. For its value, I say the Swift X could be worth getting if you happen to be a content creator who needs a compact laptop. Otherwise, you can also go for the less powerful Swift 3X (i5) that's priced at RM3799.

There’s no question that the Acer Swift X provides enough CPU and GPU performance for on-the-go content creators. With an octo-core Ryzen 7 5800U, the Swift X offers blazing application performance and strong multimedia performance. I’m not saying you need a 15.6-inch or larger laptop to run Photoshop and other media-creation and -editing apps, but I would argue you need at least a 14-inch display with a 16:10 ratio. The 14-inch, 16:9 display isn’t a barrier, however, for gamers to pick the Swift X. It’s a better fit as a laptop for students or office workers: light enough to carry around each day and powerful enough to play games each night.

The new Acer Swift X is a little, badass workhorse laptop. It’s not exactly your fancy ultrabook, and it won’t necessarily turn heads when you unleash it at the local coffee shop, but that’s not really what it’s there for. Acer created this laptop for a simple purpose – get the work done without any extra bells and whistles. If you like simplicity over everything else, the Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 is certainly a great laptop for you. It is one of those laptops you get when budget and productivity are at the top of your list – and these days, that’s all we can ask for in a laptop.

The Acer Swift X is uniquely positioned to offer very good performance for creators while still being highly portable and compact, which is rare to find. It looks good, performs well, and has a comfortable keyboard as well as a bright and vivid display. Battery life is also pretty satisfactory, even though it doesn't quite live up to Acer's claims. If I had to knock a few points off, then that would be for the average quality webcam and lack of an SD card slot. I'm not a big fan of the cramped direction pad either. The Swift X runs very hot when stressed, particularly when gaming, which is to be expected since this chassis wasn't exactly designed with gaming in mind. The Acer Swift X could be a very good option if you want an ultraportable with reasonable battery life that can handle content creation software and even some games if the occasion calls for it. However, if gaming is a priority, then I'd recommend looking at Acer's Nitro or Asus' TUF series of laptops, which offer more competitive specs and better cooling for roughly the same or even lower prices.

We didn’t anticipate this. We knew that the Swift X is a really promising prospect, but we didn’t see that coming. Gone are the days where you need a bulky device for your professional needs, or to play the latest AAA titles. The technology has gone so far that an ultrabook that weighs 1.39 kilos has enough processing power to completely obliterate the full-blown 45W chips from the last couple of years.

We can’t provide a definitive opinion on the Acer Swift X (14-inch) just yet, but so far I’m more disappointed than I am impressed. It has a nice display and design, and so far the keyboard isn’t the greatest and the speakers are straight up bad. However, the Swift X has a lot of unknowns in the performance arena. Plus, since this is a pre-production model, there’s a chance that the things I’ve taken issue with here will be vastly improved in the laptop’s final version. But we’ll just have to wait for the ultimate version of the system to land at our testing facility. Stay tuned for the official review.
