Reviews for the Acer Swift Go 14 AI
ARM processors for Windows laptops are here to stay for the third time. In the new Acer Swift Go 14 AI, the ARM CPU makes room for a large battery, resulting in outstanding runtime. But what about the performance of the Snapdragon laptop? We take a closer look!

The Acer Swift Go 14 AI is a competent mid-range laptop. It benefits from excellent battery life, an enjoyable keyboard, and a bright, high-resolution IPS display. However, the Swift Go 14 AI’s value is hampered by the specific Snapdragon X Plus and the laptop’s $999 MSRP. While the chip is a fine performer in CPU tests, frequent discounts on laptops with Snapdragon X Elite chips like the Asus Vivobook S 15 make it difficult to recommend a similarly priced Snapdragon X Plus laptop If the Swift Go 14 AI dips below $800, however, it’s a good choice for people who need long battery life alongside decent CPU performance.

I already have some experience with ARM-powered laptops from Qualcomm, as I used the ASUS Vivobook S15 for a while. However, that laptop was equipped with the most powerful processor in the Snapdragon X Elite series. In contrast, the device reviewed here features the “simpler” Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100. Despite this, I certainly didn’t experience any disappointments. Yes, the laptop may not be as powerful, but it handled the tasks I threw at it excellently. As for the drawbacks, I would highlight the cooling system and thermal performance. In this area, Acer needs to make improvements because, although the issues aren’t critical, they do exist. In conclusion, you’ll get a laptop with a modern design, built with high-quality materials.

Acer is commanding a price of RM3,999 for one of the new Snapdragon-powered Swift Go 14 AI laptop, and for the price, you’ll be getting a laptop that excels in CPU performance (provided that it supports the software), battery life, and some neat features that makes the laptop a more polished package. You’ll have to understand its downsides to make the most out of this laptop though – but if you’re someone who just needs a laptop for productivity, this is a fairly decent choice overall.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: An integrated graphics adapter that the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core X1P-42-100 SoC features. Compared to the faster 3.8 TFLOPS and 4.6 TFLOPS X1-85 iGPUs, this one does not just run at lower clock speeds but also has fewer unified shaders at its disposal, with 768 being the most likely number. The underlying architecture is reportedly not much different from what was used in the Adreno 730. As for its gaming performance, it's only just sufficient for pre-2020 games at resolutions such as HD 720p on low graphics settings.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD X Plus X1P-42-100: A relatively affordable ARM architecture processor (SoC) for use in Windows laptops. The X Plus 8-core chip features 8 Oryon CPU cores running at up to 3.4 GHz, along with the 1.7 TFLOPS X1-45 Adreno iGPU and the 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU. The super-fast LPDDR5x-8448 memory controller known to us from other Snapdragon X chips, USB 4.0 support, TB 4 support and PCIe 4 support are all onboard as well.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
