It is achieved by an embedded fingerprint reader, which is a fast and secure method to verify a user identity without a password. Cortana also allows users to use the laptop as a smart assistant to answer a wide range of questions. The Acer Swift 3 SD313 has a battery at 56Wh which is capable of lasting for up to 16 hours, perfect for users to spend whole day on the move. In cases of any emergencies, it can also be fast-charged to provide 4 hours use from 30 minutes charge. With a full range of connectivity options including full-function USB-C, Thunderbolt 3 the Swift 3 is capable of quickly connecting to many other devices. And, to be sure users can connect to legacy devices it also comes with USB 3.1 Gen 2 and a display port. A single connector of USB-C can be used for ultra-quick data transfer, video streaming, and battery charging/power. Moreover, USB 3.1 is 10 times faster than USB 2.0. With an Intel Core i5-8250U processor and a fast SSD, the Acer Swift 3 SF313 is well-equipped for most tasks that could be thrown at it. Thanks to its LTE modem, the 13.3-inch subnotebook is also suitable as a small business companion for work on the go. Acer has not included a dedicated GPU, but this decision benefits battery life.

The Acer Swift 3 is a special laptop because it's one of the few thin and light models in the market to feature 4G LTE connectivity along with good performance. That said, I wish it had a better keyboard, clearer sound, and upgradeable RAM.

Acer's 13.3-inch Swift 3 brings a few wins to the ultraportable arena, chief among them a moderate $899.99 price. Even with a so-so screen and some keyboard stumbles, it's worth a look.

As long as you don't have a bunch of spare USB Type-C chargers lying around that you want to be able to use, the Acer Swift 3 is a great PC for $899, with its Core i7 and 512GB SSD. It's a good option if you're looking for portability and a small footprint. Definitely shop around though, because you might find some better deals around this price point.

Acer Swift 3 SF313-52-71Y7
While there aren’t many Windows laptops with 3:2 displays out there, Acer has aimed to fulfill that with their 2020 Swift 3 SF313-52 model. Most notebooks out there get wider 16:9 screens which are ideal for watching movies but some models decided to move towards 16:10 or 3:2 displays such as Dell XP513 or the LG Gram 17. Acer Swift 3 SF313-52-71Y7 has also joined the league of such displays as well. The reason for this shift is basically due to the fact that this display option offers more vertical space and are definitely more productive for work or even regular use. While Acer Swift 3 has opted in for such high-resolution display, it also has incorporated a 13.5 inches screen size along with it. The large display allows better image display with details like letters to be shown bigger. This definitely improves overall user viewing experience.
In terms of general performance, this laptop has good CPU performance with its Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor. Along with this, there is also an incorporation of Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7 graphics adapter. The integrated graphics card in Intel Ice-Lake G7 SoCs is based on the new Gen.11 architecture with 64 EUs (Execution Units/Shader Cluster). With this faster Iris Pro G7 graphics, users will be able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution. Apart from that, this laptop also comes in with 16GB of RAM.
As far as the overall design is concerned, Acer decided to proceed with the similar magnesium-alloy build which had previously been incorporated within the 14-inches Acer Swift 3 SF314-57 model. In a glance, Acer Swift 3 SF313-52-71Y7 do feel alright to be touched and handled. It also looks sturdy. Even while accommodating such a large 3:2 display option, the design built allows it to be one of the lightest products in their classes. In addition to that, the magnesium shell also does a very good job at hiding smudges and even scratches on its lighter colored scheme. However, it is definitely worth noting that this laptop does have a high tendency to take in scuffs and scratches easily due to its built. Therefore, it is always advisable to cover the laptop with a protective sleeve especially while being carried in backpacks.
In a nutshell, the laptop is fairly compact but still offers a full-size keyboard and large enough arm rest. There are also USB-A and USB-C ports along with Thunderbolt 3 support, an audio jack and HDMI port as well. However, there is no SD card reader allocated within this model. Acer has also implemented rubber feet on the bottom and made sure there is enough space between the exhausts (located behind the hinge) and the screen. This prevents the hot air from heating the panel. Overall, Acer Swift 3 SF314-57 is a considerable choice for personal and professional use depending on user preference.

Thanks to Ice Lake the new Swift 3 offers more CPU performance than before, and 3D has also improved with the new SoC. The subnotebook is jammed into a modern case equipped with a bright 3:2 display, and it is served with a great stamina. Find out in our review whether there are any weaknesses to report as well.

Available in 13-, 14-, and 15-inch screen sizes, the Swift 3 is one of Acer's affordable rather than flagship offerings. But the latest Swift 3 ultraportable ($1,099.99 at Costco) is a surprisingly premium piece: Priced $350 below a comparable Dell XPS 13, it joins that Editors' Choice in shunning the standard 16:9 screen aspect ratio—in the 13.5-inch Acer's case, for a squarer 3:2 ratio that the company says gives you 18 percent more vertical height for web and text scrolling. It's well equipped with 16GB of RAM, a 512GB NVMe solid-state drive, and Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI ports, and lighter than the Dell at 2.62 pounds. Only a Core i7 processor that performed more like a Core i5 in some of our benchmarks keeps it from being an Editors' Choice itself.

All in all, I’d say the 2020 Swift 3 ultraportable lineup remains competitive, with good features and aggressive pricing that could be enough to compensate for the rather mediocre keyboards and screens on the 14-inch variants. The 13-inch model is especially interesting for its 3:2 matte display and big battery, an excellent mix for productivity in a small envelope. However, if Renoir ends-up as dominating as it promises, some of you might look past it for being solely built on Intel IceLake hardware.

As we've long said of the Acer Swift 3, it's all about the balance of price to performance. The 2020 model, with its new 3:2 aspect ratio screen, is a bit of a trapeze artist when it comes to delivering dependable specs and features without breaking the bank.

What is more important here is to have fast and more memory. Well, the first checkbox is ticked by the LPDDR4 RAM modules, but the second is a different story. Since there are no slots for upgrades, you are stuck with a maximum of 16GB. And this is if you get the appropriate version that includes 16GB, otherwise, you might get 8GB for the rest of this laptop’s life. Thankfully, though, Acer was kind enough to include an M.2 NVMe-enabled slot for storage upgradability.

This Acer Swift 3 SF314-52 is one of the most interesting mid-range ultraportables you'll find in stores during 2020. The 3:2 good-quality screen is its major selling point, but so are the sturdy and lightweight construction, the solid everyday experience and the fair battery life, despite the toll taken by the high-res display. Furthermore, the competitive pricing adds to this notebook's overall value and could compensate for its quirks, such as the sub-par inputs and puny audio. At the same time, though, these could also just kill it for some of you.

After the Acer Swift 3 SF313 was able to make a good impression in its full configuration, the Intel Core i5 model now has to show if it can deliver a similarly good performance. However, it also inherits the small weaknesses we already encountered in the first test. In our review we'll clarify to what extent this has an impact on the overall impression.

The Acer Swift 3 has several good points—it's an ultraportable that provides a wealth of features, a pinch of style, and competitive performance (especially its great battery life) for the reasonable price of $999.99. Like its competitors, it's no gaming laptop, but it checks the boxes you'd want for a traveling productivity partner. What prevents a stronger recommendation is Acer's move from last year's squarer 3:2 aspect ratio screen to the slightly retro 16:9 panel of this year's edition. For a 14-inch laptop that's meant to take you through your work or school day, a 16:10 or ideally 3:2 display provides a roomier workspace than a 16:9 screen that's good for watching movies but less useful for navigating web pages, email inboxes, and Microsoft Office docs.

The biggest physical change from the previous model is a new hinge that's been adjusted to make way for a new speaker, which has surprisingly good sound. Thanks to the 300-nit display, with 100 percent sRGB coverage, and the good sound, the Swift 3 is great for watching movies. Blacks in the shadows are nice and deep, and colors appear richly saturated without being overly so. There is one thing I dislike about the Swift 3, which is the same thing I disliked about the last model—that same small, fragile-looking, non-USB, single pin charger. I say it's fragile, but my wife's Acer has the same pin, works fine, and is three years old, so it's probably nothing to worry about. And the Swift 3 can charge off the USB-C thunderbolt port, which makes it even stranger. USB-C chargers: They're the way of the future, Acer. Still, I think Acer's Swift 3 is one of the best deals on the market right now. For $1,000 you get a laptop that's powerful enough for most people, has phenomenal battery life, a good screen, and great sound. For most of us, that's more than enough.

Acer Swift 3 (SF313-53)’s IPS panel (BOE NE135FBM-N41 (BOE08BC)) has a high resolution, comfortable viewing angles, high maximum brightness, great contrast ratio, and 99% of sRGB coverage. Additionally, its backlight doesn’t flicker at any brightness level. Another thing we were impressed by, was the color accuracy. Especially when our Gaming and Web design profile is present, we monitor an Average dE of 0.6, which is among the best we’ve ever tested. So, no matter your workflow – Web design, interior design, art, photography, engineering, or e-commerce, this laptop will provide everything you need, to get the most accurate color representation. By the way, thanks to the high maximum brightness, working outdoors should be no issue, even with the glossy display.

This Swift 3 SF313-53 is an interesting mid-range ultraportable with a focus on daily-use productivity, thanks to its 3:2 display. This is what primarily puts it on the map, as one of the more affordable ultrabooks with Tiger Lake hardware, good IO, a big battery, and a solid-quality 3:2 display. On the other hand, buyers should be aware of the quirky inputs, poor audio, and potential panel flickering.

Half of these apps don’t even share the Acer name, meaning that they’re scattered all over your Start menu like scraps of paper across a parking lot. Even the “User Experience Improve [sic] Program” doesn’t allow for any feedback, just an invitation to let Acer look over your shoulder. It all needs to be fixed.

It’s rare to find a laptop that I really enjoyed using, but whose performance is so disappointing. Let’s tally up the positives: a top-notch keyboard, premium Thunderbolt I/O, a crisp, lovely 2K screen, excellent battery life. On the opposing side of the ledger, the Swift 3’s performance is middling to poor, its audio so-so, and the software experience is lacking as well.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
