87.8% Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021 Review: A Great Laptop You Probably Can't Buy | Notebookcheck
The MateBook X Pro is still one of the sharpest-looking Ultrabooks you can buy despite its years-old visual design. However, a few aspects haven't aged well at all for Huawei's flagship model.

Huawei Matebook X Pro Review — Updated hardware delivers another high end experience but remains high cost
Source: Ausdroid English
I really want to say yes for a number of reasons including the design, aesthetics and specs making for a truly lovely machine to look at and use. The connectivity hits all of the marks that can be expected of a top flight laptop. The sound output is good (not great, but it’s a laptop), the keyboard has a lovely touch as well as spacing and the screen is stunning. It’s a lightweight device that easily fits in your bag for the day ahead or can sit as a desktop replacement.

60% Huawei MateBook X Pro Review
Source: Toptenreviews English
While the earlier MateBook X Pros offered discrete sub-gaming graphics cards, they’ve been ditched on the latest model, since the integrated Iris Xe Graphics are capable of performance close enough to Nvidia’s MX range of GPUs. It does make this MateBook X Pro cheaper than earlier models, but they lose their graphical advantage and still end up more expensive than current competition. The 55Wh battery is pretty reasonable, with close to eight hours of movie playback and more than a full day’s work lifespan. It’s also got a nice keyboard and trackpad, the screen is brighter than most laptops, and the besels are particularly compact. It’s wrapped in a nice metallic body and comes with a power button that doubles as a fingerprint reader. So there’s still plenty to like, but we can’t help but feel laptops have progressed a little more than the MateBook X Pro over the last few years, which means the top dollar price just doesn’t seem reasonable any more. A premium laptop that hasn’t delivered much innovation over the last few years.

Huawei MateBook X Pro (2021) Review: A Sleek and Vibrant Notebook
Source: AnandTech English
However it does get a few things wrong – that webcam placement has to disappear at some point. It’s somewhere between not-present and useless. If Huawei doesn’t want to put it in the display where it traditionally sits, it needs to think of a solution. Beyond that, the battery life isn’t really as great as I thought it would be. We achieved just under 9 hours for light work – either video playback or web browsing – when really I would be expecting 13+. We’ve seen similar 10th Gen and 11th Gen Intel processors get 13-16 hours, although those have lower resolution (1080p) displays. The performance ultimately isn't that stellar, compared to others in this market, perhaps due to the design limitations and 15 W limit in order to get the display and chasis of this caliber. This is some of the tradeoffs that laptop manufacturers have to make. The Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021, with 16GB/1TB, is available in the UK for £1300 (Space Grey) or £1400 (Emerald Green) with a current deal for £150 rebate as well as a choice between a free Huawei Monitor, Watch GT2, or Matepad T10, all worth ~£200.

80% Huawei MateBook X Pro (2021) review: Super sharp shooter
Source: Pocket Lint English
This laptop has a limited appeal, mostly because there's only an ultra-high-end spec version in the UK, which costs a packet. However, Huawei does a good job of justifying that cost, with great build quality, a sharp and bright screen, and an ambitious haptic touchpad.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro’s build quality is excellent and the screen is sharp and bright. Huawei’s Apple-style haptic touchpad is a success, and the device runs quiet, if not outright silent because this is an Intel Core-powered laptop, after all. What do you miss? Lovely as the screen it, it doesn’t have wide gamut colour. And while the battery life is solid, it isn’t class-leading.

80% Huawei MateBook X Pro (2021) review: A fine laptop but it needs an overhaul
Source: Expert Reviews English
The MateBook X Pro story is simple. An already very good ultraportable has just got a little better thanks to the latest Intel silicon. The problem is that it’s the only major upgrade, and the display is actually a bit worse. The position of the webcam is still farcical, and the usefulness of the Huawei file- and screen-sharing technology is blunted by the fact that nobody is buying Huawei's Android smartphones at the moment. Overall, then, it’s still good, but definitely in need of some overdue TLC.

83% Huawei Matebook X Pro (2021) Review – Great For Work And A Little Bit Of Play
Source: Pokde English
I had a good time with the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro. It has a beautiful design, premium build, amazing screen, decent battery life as well as good audio. However, there are some issues with the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro. Some of these issues are those mentioned before such as the awkward webcam placement, the slight lack of connectivity ports, the thermal issues and the wonky trackpad. The trackpad on the MateBook X Pro is really not good to the point where I resorted to using a mouse due to the sheer frustrations it gave me. Regardless of these shortcomings, I still think that the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro is perfect for those looking for a great work companion as well as looking great while using it. The screen is an absolute beaut and the touchscreen will prove useful during presentations. It is also great for one or two Netflix binge sessions and the speakers work pretty well. Also, it can handle some gaming as well albeit at a limited capacity.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro gets a 2021 refresh to go head-to-head with other products in the 'luxury laptop' market, such as the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro and the Dell XPX 15. In fact, the first version of the MateBook X Pro impressed us so much back in 2018 that we awarded it a coveted 'best in class' award and stuck it right at the top of our list of the best laptops at the time. That sadly seems to have created some very imposing shoes to fill since, despite being impressed with this new offering, the MateBook X Pro (2021) falls flat in a few key areas. A glaring one is regional availability, with the device only available throughout China and parts of Europe at the moment, though Huawei has confirmed there are plans to make the product available in the USA through third-party retailers like Amazon - eventually.

In the fourth year of the same design the MateBook X Pro is beginning to feel a little long in the tooth, most notably in that poor webcam, and below-par battery life doesn't help matters. The design does still feel surprisingly slick though, and the keyboard and trackpad are among the best out there. This will be a fantastic purchase for some, but the few significant flaws will rule it out for others.

The Huawei MateBook X Pro 2021 is a decent laptop, but not necessarily a good MacBook alternative. Yes, it has a bright display, a comfortable keyboard, a fast SSD and long battery life. But its middling performance, limited ports, wonky webcam and high price are tough to overlook.

Huawei MateBook X Pro review: A great PC with a WFH deal-breaker
Source: Neowin English
There's a lot of good here, and unfortunately, one major deal-breaker. Huawei took what's historically been a winning formula and basically bumped up the specs. It's got a new Emerald Green color and a haptic touchpad, but for the most part, the thing that's new here is the addition of 11th-gen processors and the lack of a dedicated GPU. And being that this has always been a winning formula, it's understandable to see why Huawei didn't think to change it.

Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Huawei: Huawei Technologies Co, Ltd. is a Chinese telecommunications company and hardware manufacturer founded in 1987 and headquartered in Shenzhen. Huawei is a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices. Huawei provides end-to-end solutions for telecommunications networks, devices, and smartphones, as well as storage, servers, networking, and cloud computing enterprise solutions and products.

In 2014, Huawei established the Honor subsidiary brand under which certain smartphone lines are sold. The Huawei name is usually not listed for these products.

78.95%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
