Reviews for the Acer Swift 3 SF313-53-78UG

70% Acer Swift 3 (2021)
Source: PC Mag English
The Acer Swift 3 has several good points—it's an ultraportable that provides a wealth of features, a pinch of style, and competitive performance (especially its great battery life) for the reasonable price of $999.99. Like its competitors, it's no gaming laptop, but it checks the boxes you'd want for a traveling productivity partner. What prevents a stronger recommendation is Acer's move from last year's squarer 3:2 aspect ratio screen to the slightly retro 16:9 panel of this year's edition. For a 14-inch laptop that's meant to take you through your work or school day, a 16:10 or ideally 3:2 display provides a roomier workspace than a 16:9 screen that's good for watching movies but less useful for navigating web pages, email inboxes, and Microsoft Office docs.

70% Review: Acer Swift 3 Laptop (2021)

The biggest physical change from the previous model is a new hinge that's been adjusted to make way for a new speaker, which has surprisingly good sound. Thanks to the 300-nit display, with 100 percent sRGB coverage, and the good sound, the Swift 3 is great for watching movies. Blacks in the shadows are nice and deep, and colors appear richly saturated without being overly so. There is one thing I dislike about the Swift 3, which is the same thing I disliked about the last model—that same small, fragile-looking, non-USB, single pin charger. I say it's fragile, but my wife's Acer has the same pin, works fine, and is three years old, so it's probably nothing to worry about. And the Swift 3 can charge off the USB-C thunderbolt port, which makes it even stranger. USB-C chargers: They're the way of the future, Acer. Still, I think Acer's Swift 3 is one of the best deals on the market right now. For $1,000 you get a laptop that's powerful enough for most people, has phenomenal battery life, a good screen, and great sound. For most of us, that's more than enough.

Acer Swift 3 (SF313-53) review – more vertical space gets you through your workdays
Source: Laptop Media English Archive.org version
Acer Swift 3 (SF313-53)’s IPS panel (BOE NE135FBM-N41 (BOE08BC)) has a high resolution, comfortable viewing angles, high maximum brightness, great contrast ratio, and 99% of sRGB coverage. Additionally, its backlight doesn’t flicker at any brightness level. Another thing we were impressed by, was the color accuracy. Especially when our Gaming and Web design profile is present, we monitor an Average dE of 0.6, which is among the best we’ve ever tested. So, no matter your workflow – Web design, interior design, art, photography, engineering, or e-commerce, this laptop will provide everything you need, to get the most accurate color representation. By the way, thanks to the high maximum brightness, working outdoors should be no issue, even with the glossy display.

80% Acer Swift 3 SF313-53 review (2020 – Tiger Lake hardware and 3:2 display)
Source: Ultrabook Review English Archive.org version
This Swift 3 SF313-53 is an interesting mid-range ultraportable with a focus on daily-use productivity, thanks to its 3:2 display. This is what primarily puts it on the map, as one of the more affordable ultrabooks with Tiger Lake hardware, good IO, a big battery, and a solid-quality 3:2 display. On the other hand, buyers should be aware of the quirky inputs, poor audio, and potential panel flickering.

Acer Swift 3 SF313 Ultra Thin i7-1065G7 is an ideal laptop for working on the move. It is slim, lightweight and stylish. The highlights of the laptop include the latest NVIDIA GPU, Intel CPU and long battery life. Weight really isn’t an issue with this thin and light notebook. It is all thanks to the aluminium and magnesium-aluminium metal chassis that the Acer Swift 3 SF313 is able to weigh as little as 1.19kg as well as be as thin as 15.95mm. With the two narrow bezels and an impressive screen-to-body ratio, users get to see more of the 13.5” 3:2 2256x1504 IPS screen. The addition of Acer Color Intelligence and Exacolor provides enhanced colour contrast. Many laptop users demand plenty of storage for audio and video files and plenty of memory to work efficiently and the Swift 3 certainly does not disappoint. This Swift 3 comes with a 512GB PCIe Gen 3x4 SSD, and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. The Acer Swift 3 SF313 features an Intel Core i7-1065G7. As for the GPU, it has the NVIDIA® GeForce® MX350. The MX350 provides up to 2.5X faster performance over integrated graphics for photo and video-editing applications, as well as faster and smoother gaming.

The Swift 3 can be accessed even faster and more securely without having to use a password. It is achieved by an embedded fingerprint reader, which is a fast and secure method to verify a user identity without a password. Cortana also allows users to use the laptop as a smart assistant to answer a wide range of questions. The Acer Swift 3 SD313 has a battery at 56Wh which is capable of lasting for up to 16 hours, perfect for users to spend whole day on the move. In cases of any emergencies, it can also be fast-charged to provide 4 hours use from 30 minutes charge. With a full range of connectivity options including full-function USB-C, Thunderbolt 3 the Swift 3 is capable of quickly connecting to many other devices. And, to be sure users can connect to legacy devices it also comes with USB 3.1 Gen 2 and a display port. A single connector of USB-C can be used for ultra-quick data transfer, video streaming, and battery charging/power. Moreover, USB 3.1 is 10 times faster than USB 2.0. As a conclusion, the Acer Swift 3 SF313 Ultra Thin i7-1065G7 is a decent mid-range ultraportable laptop that has a special 3:2 display. Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.

Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.

76.67%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
