Reviews for the Acer Swift 3 SF313-52-78W6

80% Acer Swift 3 review: Great features outweigh disappointing performance
Source: PC World English
Half of these apps don’t even share the Acer name, meaning that they’re scattered all over your Start menu like scraps of paper across a parking lot. Even the “User Experience Improve [sic] Program” doesn’t allow for any feedback, just an invitation to let Acer look over your shoulder. It all needs to be fixed.

Acer Swift 3 review: Great features outweigh disappointing performance
Source: Good Gear Guide English
It’s rare to find a laptop that I really enjoyed using, but whose performance is so disappointing. Let’s tally up the positives: a top-notch keyboard, premium Thunderbolt I/O, a crisp, lovely 2K screen, excellent battery life. On the opposing side of the ledger, the Swift 3’s performance is middling to poor, its audio so-so, and the software experience is lacking as well.

Acer Swift 3 SF313 Ultra Thin i7-1065G7 is an ideal laptop for working on the move. It is slim, lightweight and stylish. The highlights of the laptop include the latest NVIDIA GPU, Intel CPU and long battery life. Weight really isn’t an issue with this thin and light notebook. It is all thanks to the aluminium and magnesium-aluminium metal chassis that the Acer Swift 3 SF313 is able to weigh as little as 1.19kg as well as be as thin as 15.95mm. With the two narrow bezels and an impressive screen-to-body ratio, users get to see more of the 13.5” 3:2 2256x1504 IPS screen. The addition of Acer Color Intelligence and Exacolor provides enhanced colour contrast. Many laptop users demand plenty of storage for audio and video files and plenty of memory to work efficiently and the Swift 3 certainly does not disappoint. This Swift 3 comes with a 512GB PCIe Gen 3x4 SSD, and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. The Acer Swift 3 SF313 features an Intel Core i7-1065G7. As for the GPU, it has the NVIDIA® GeForce® MX350. The MX350 provides up to 2.5X faster performance over integrated graphics for photo and video-editing applications, as well as faster and smoother gaming.

The Swift 3 can be accessed even faster and more securely without having to use a password. It is achieved by an embedded fingerprint reader, which is a fast and secure method to verify a user identity without a password. Cortana also allows users to use the laptop as a smart assistant to answer a wide range of questions. The Acer Swift 3 SD313 has a battery at 56Wh which is capable of lasting for up to 16 hours, perfect for users to spend whole day on the move. In cases of any emergencies, it can also be fast-charged to provide 4 hours use from 30 minutes charge. With a full range of connectivity options including full-function USB-C, Thunderbolt 3 the Swift 3 is capable of quickly connecting to many other devices. And, to be sure users can connect to legacy devices it also comes with USB 3.1 Gen 2 and a display port. A single connector of USB-C can be used for ultra-quick data transfer, video streaming, and battery charging/power. Moreover, USB 3.1 is 10 times faster than USB 2.0. As a conclusion, the Acer Swift 3 SF313 Ultra Thin i7-1065G7 is a decent mid-range ultraportable laptop that has a special 3:2 display. It is also practical to work on the go due to the decent ultraportable design, various connectivity options and good hardware specifications.

Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7 (Ice Lake 64 EU): Integrated graphics card in Intel Ice-Lake G7 SoCs based on the new Gen. 11 architecture with 64 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model ranging from 300 MHz base to 1050 - 1100 MHz boost. The Ice-Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm process at Intel produced.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

i7-1065G7: Ice Lake-based quad-core processor for thin and light laptops. The four cores are clocked at 1.3 GHz to 3.9 GHz and should offer 18% more IPC (instructions per clock) than the previous generations (and therefore partly close the clock speed gap). Produced on first-gen 10 nm Intel process.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

13.50":

Above all, this display size is used for subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles. For all three types, this size is quite large. The biggest variety of subnotebooks is represented with this size.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

1.19 kg:

This weight is typical for big tablets, small subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 10-11 inch display-diagonal.

Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors and televisions. Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell also belong to the Group and sell their own laptops.

While Acer still had the third largest global market share in the notebook segment in 2008, it ranked 6th in 2016 with a market share of 6% after they had continuously lost market shares.

There are dozens of Acer laptop reviews per month, the ratings are average (as of 2016). Gateway, which has an own laptop line-up, has also belonged to the Acer Group since 2007.

80%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
