With the Nitro V, Acer is offering a good-budget gaming laptop that delivers where it matters most: game performance. It runs most modern titles at over 60 FPS at 1080p, though you’ll need to turn image quality down a little in the most demanding titles like Fortnite and Cyberpunk 2077. The Intel Core i7-13620H processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and RTX 4050 GPU are impressive, but the battery is mediocre, the same is true for most sub-$1000 laptops, however. The areas where the laptop does falter are easier to deal with than some alternatives, like the thin sound you can get a pair of better-sounding headphones. It’s not terrible, but it’s not particularly great either. For around the same price, the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 looks like fantastic value overall, but if you’re on a tight budget, the Acer Nitro V ANV15-51-73B9 will save you some money.

For the price, we have to applaud the Nitro V 15 on most fronts. Areas that are often major pitfalls in budget builds—the screen and the chassis build quality—are passable here, while it delivers steady 1080p gaming performance at a much lower price than most competitors. The Gigabyte Aorus 15 BMF does just enough to maintain its Editors’ Choice award in the budget gaming category, on the back of a superior build, 1080p webcam, better processor, and slightly faster gaming performance. If saving as much money as possible is your priority, though, the Nitro V 15 ANV15-51-59MT model delivers a similar experience for $150 less.

Overall, the Acer Nitro V 15 left a pleasant impression, as it offers a fairly neutral appearance, has a lot of ports, a fingerprint scanner, and very good performance and battery life. Yes, the matrix could have a wider color gamut, and the speakers, traditionally for such models, are not impressive. However, a sufficient level of performance for high graphics settings and stable operation make such shortcomings quite minor. And given that the cost of flagship laptops can be 4-5 times higher, there's no need to talk about the "downsides" at all.

Acer’s Nitro V 15 is a good budget gaming laptop that delivers what matters most: game performance. It can exceed 60 FPS in a wide variety of games at 1080p, though you’ll need to turn image quality down a notch or two in the most demanding titles. The Nitro V 15’s processor performance is less impressive, its RAM is meager, and its battery life is mediocre, but the same is true for most price-competitive gaming laptops. Ultimately, your buying decision will hinge on price. The Nitro V 15 is solid but doesn’t overachieve, so look for a sale.

The Acer Nitro V 15 attempts to balance budget and performance but falls flat by compromising on display quality, gaming performance, and storage options, making it difficult to recommend this particular model. While the Nitro V 15 offers solid battery life for a gaming laptop and decent overall performance, it’s not enough to outweigh the measly 512GB of storage in all but one configuration or the subpar graphics performance compared to similarly priced gaming laptops. Even if you are a gamer on a tight budget, you should not compromise in these critical areas, especially when there are affordable alternatives, like the Dell G16, that offer much better value for your money.

The Acer Nitro V 15 doesn't have many standout features or much going on in terms of general performance. The underpowered hardware is fine for gaming because of Nvidia's DLSS, but you won't have much luck if you're planning to use rendering software. This doesn't matter as the available color space is much too poor anyway. The laptop even stutters when surfing the web unless you're in performance mode, which is so loud that it's not worth using. There are other budget gaming laptops at a similar price point that don't have this many caveats. The Lenovo LOQ 15 is a budget pick with great 1080p gaming performance and quiet fans. The MSI Cyborg 15 is another budget pick worth your money, and so is the slightly more expensive Dell G15, which has its own issues but still delivers a solid gaming experience. If you're considering the Acer Nitro V 15, please don't. Any of these picks above will give you more value.

As configured, the Acer Nitro V 15 will cost you Rs 69,990 in India. While the 65W TDP RTX 3050 does seem underpowered compared to other options that offer a 75W variant, there’s not a lot of difference in gaming performance. As for day-to-day usage, the 13th-gen Intel i5 definitely impresses, and combined, the Nitro V 15 offers excellent performance for its price. The display, speakers, and build quality could all have been better, but for folks looking for a performance beast, the Nitro V 15 gets a solid thumbs up from us.

The Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-51) is a hybrid between the Nitro and the Aspire series. That’s okay because the laptop performs well in our tests. The cooling is potent enough so the CPU can reach high clocks even in prolonged periods of max stress. The only downside here is the high temperature, especially in short and medium loads. The GPU (the optional GeForce RTX 3050 (Laptop, 65W, 6GB)) has no problem maintaining 63W TGP alongside good thermals. The comfort under load can vary depending on the task. During CPU-intensive workloads in “Performance” mode, the fan noise is super intrusive (~7000 RPM) but if you use the device mainly for gaming, the noise levels will be much lower (~4400 RPM). That’s okay for an unpretentious device that doesn’t cost much. In addition, the keyboard doesn’t feel hot so you can work comfortably without sensing a big amount of heat under your fingers.

The RTX 3050 Acer Nitro V15 represents good value at Acer’s RRP of £799, but at £749 it’s even more of a bargain. The only real weak spot is the display, which is rather low rent, especially when the screen on the similarly priced Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9I is much better. However, the LOQ struggles with AAA games whereas the V15 doesn’t. And that’s the key thing. Despite the low price, the V15 is still a genuinely competent gaming laptop with a fine keyboard, excellent upgrade options and surprisingly long battery life.

If you are on the hunt for a gaming laptop on a budget, you have a good amount of options to consider. The Acer Nitro V 15 (ANV15-41) is a plastic machine with decent build quality for its class. Also, you can open the lid with a single hand and the input devices are suitable for comfortable work or gaming. Speaking of which, the cooling draws fresh air through the keyboard deck and that’s why the backlit unit doesn’t feel hot to the touch when the internals are pushed to their limits. This reminds us that the thermal system is doing its job (almost) well. In our case, the Ryzen 5 7535HS can maintain ~ 3.80 Ghz during long stress which is 600 MHz higher result than the official AMD base clock. That comes at a price – very high noise in CPU-bound scenarios.

Acer’s Nitro V15 occupies a bit of an odd position, sitting as a strange halfway house between a budget gaming laptop and a reasonably potent productivity laptop for its £749 list price. On one hand, it offers solid results compared to similarly-priced Chromebooks and non-gaming Windows alternatives, but on the other, the RTX 2050 inside powers it to some disappointing gaming results at 1080p. What’s more, its display may benefit from a smoother 144Hz refresh rate and reasonable detail, but its poor colour accuracy and dim brightness mean it has some quite important shortcomings. On the upside, the battery life here is decent, and there’s a great array of ports.

72.33%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
