When Acer announced the new Nitro 5 earlier this month, it only announced the version with the new Intel Comet Lake H CPUs like the Core i7-10750H. Today, Acer is following that up with an AMD model: The Acer Nitro 5 will be available with AMD Ryzen 4000 processors of the Renoir series. Specifically, it will feature the Ryzen 7 4800H octa-core processor as the fastest option.
With the Acer Nitro 5 being a multimedia/gaming type of laptop, it naturally features dedicated GPUs as well. In the case of the Intel model the best GPU option is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060. This GPU will not be available in combination with the AMD CPUs, unfortunately. Instead of the RTX chip, Acer will only offer Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti – certainly a fast GPU, but obviously slower than the RTX GeForce. Also, the AMD model will only be available with a 15.6 inch screen, the 17 inch option stays exclusive with Intel. This seems like yet another case where an AMD version of a product is made available, but only with lesser option – a common sight for this years laptop releases.
The Acer Nitro 5 2020 will be available in Europe in June. Both the Intel and the AMD model have a starting price of €899.
