Reviews for the Acer Nitro 16 AN16-41, R9 7940HS
Source: Laptop Media

The Acer Nitro 16 (AN16-41) is a capable gaming device thanks to its powerful hardware that is tamed properly by the potent cooling system. The optional Ryzen 7 7840HS can maintain a 4.77 GHz frequency in longer 100% stress while the temperature is just 67°C. This reminds us that the manufacturer has applied liquid metal to the CPU chip. The GeForce RTX 4060 can show 2595 MHz core clocks alongside 102W TGP after 30 minutes of max load. All this results in a snappy performance no matter the task. Still, the fans are pretty loud in “Turbo” mode but this isn’t a huge problem since the GPU power limit is the same in “Performance” and “Balanced” modes where the noise levels are way lower.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 and the Acer Nitro 16 are two budget offerings from Acer and Lenovo. The question is which one is actually the best bang for buck. They both claim great price to performance, but honestly, I think only one can truly stand up to that claim.

The Acer Nitro 16 is a budget offering from Acer, however, I will admit the model I’ve tested here is not exactly what most people would consider “budget”, so this is where I’m trying to reconcile where this laptop actually sits in the offering of gaming laptops for creators.

I must say I am impressed with the improvements on the Acer Nitro 16 this year. Even with these improvements Acer still decided to keep the poor quality plastic on the bottom cover. This was disappointing to me and it was something I was hoping they would have changed with the redesign.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
