ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16: 2022 model is now orderable in Europe with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX
In January, ASUS revealed new ROG machines at CES 2022, including the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16. Subsequently, the company started selling 2022 ROG machines in the US, discussed separately. Now, it has introduced the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 in Europe just days after it debuted the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED.
At launch, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 retails for €2,999. However, Amazon Germany is already offering the entry-level specification for €2,870, a surprising discount for a brand-new machine. For reference, this price includes an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, plus 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Also, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 comes with a 2.5K (2,560 x 1,600) display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 165 Hz refresh rate.
While those specifications would be impressive enough for a laptop display, ASUS has integrated mini-LED backlights that allow the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 to reach 600 nits when viewing SDR content or 1,000 nits if you are watching HDR content. As such, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is VESA DisplayHDR certified, which ASUS augments with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Dolby Vision HDR certifications. Incidentally, the display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space and is complemented by a secondary 14-inch display, as its name suggests. For some reason, the secondary display outputs at 3,840 x 1,100 pixels, a higher horizontal resolution than the main 16-inch display.
Alternatively, ASUS offers the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 with RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti GPUs, which also come with a Ryzen 9 6980HX APU. Other configurations are available too, such as a 4K and 120 Hz display panel. Unsurprisingly, more powerful configurations are also more expensive and stretch beyond €4,000.
