For all intents and purposes, the Dead Space franchise is, as its name suggests, dead. Looking at the direction EA took Dead Space 3 in by adding microtransactions for in-game crafting items, it isn't necessarily a bad thing.
However, the original Dead Space, an outstanding game that redefined the horror genre, was slated to get a fresh coat of paint in an entirely new engine Now, EA has finally announced that the game will be available for purchase on January 27, 2023 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
An hourlong developer stream also showcases snippets of gameplay and the several visual improvements that the remaster has in store. Recapturing the essence of a game launched in 2008 can be a tad tricky, but the developers seem to have done a stellar job of it with the Dead Space remake. The new engine opens up new possibilities for decking up the USG Ishimura in never-before-seen ways.
One can only hope that Motive Studios improves upon some of the more annoying aspects of the Dead Space game, such as the painstakingly difficult turret part that forced several console players to abandon the game due to its difficulty.
