AMD Ryzen and Nvidia Max-Q working together: The Asus Zephyrus GA502DU is now shipping for $1100
Asus unveiled almost a dozen new SKUs during its Redefine 2019 press event in New York last week. All of these systems will be equipped with new Intel 9th gen mobile CPUs, AMD Ryzen Zen+ mobile CPUs, or Nvidia GTX 16 GPUs. The most exciting will definitely be the relatively uncommon AMD Ryzen laptops equipped with Nvidia GPUs as these are expected to undercut the Intel 9th gen laptops in terms of price.
One of these Ryzen/GTX laptops is the upcoming Asus Zephyrus GA502DU that promises a quad-core Ryzen 7 3750H CPU paired with a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU in a very thin Zephyrus chassis. Most OEMs usually put AMD processors on cheap unattractive chassis designs and so it's refreshing to see a slim and sleek gaming laptop powered by an AMD CPU. Newegg and Best Buy are now offering the GA502DU for $1100 and $1200, respectively, with a roomy 512 GB SSD to boot.
Newegg is already sold out of pre-order units whereas Best Buy is still carrying stock as of this writing. Users who want to skip the AMD CPU and go with a more traditional Intel 9th gen Core i7-9750H instead can consider the upcoming Acer Predator Helios 300 also on pre-order for $1200 USD.
Expect our reviews on the upcoming Intel 9th gen, Ryzen Zen+, and GTX 16 laptops in the weeks and months ahead.
