There are always interesting projects on Kickstarter. Be it a gaming laptop with two displays or a mechanical keyboard with an integrated mini PC. The AInote 2 Paper Tablet, whose funding campaign launched on September 9, 2025, has now joined the ranks of these products. The new tablet reached its funding goal of around $9,000 in just five minutes, and as of September 25, 2025, around $440,000 has already been raised.
World's thinnest e-paper tablet?
The new tablet stands in direct competition with other productivity and drawing tablets such as the Remarkable Paper Pro or the Onyx Boox devices. The manufacturer also repeatedly compares the new product to classic tablets such as the iPad 11, especially with regard to size and weight.
The manufacturer not only attempts to impress with various features, but also places extra emphasis on the dimensions of the new device. At just 4.2 mm thick, it is said to be the thinnest paper tablet in the world. This is an impressive figure, even when compared to other very thin models such as the Remarkable 2, which measures 4.7 mm thick, or the new Remarkable Paper Pro Move, which measures 6.5 mm.
Furthermore, despite its 10.65-inch E-Ink display, the tablet is said to weigh just 295 grams, making it particularly light. The E Ink display is reportedly easy on the eyes and enables a writing experience similar to paper. The tablet can also be used as an e-reader, which are also typically equipped with E Ink displays. Alternatives include PaperMatte displays, the advantages and disadvantages of which we've examined in detail here.
Solid hardware, included stylus and AI features
Apart from the aforementioned features, the new tablet is said to feature 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and the RK3576 processor (an eight-core AIoT processor). While not on the level of powerful tablets or iPads, it's certainly impressive for a paper tablet. Anyone who owns a regular tablet, however, can only dream of the promised battery life: The integrated 4,000 mAh battery is said to enable 90 days of standby or 14 days of operation under light use.
The included stylus weighs 19 grams and supports six different stroke types, which, combined with the E Ink display, is said to result in a writing experience similar to that on paper.
In addition to its uses as a note-taking/drawing tablet or e-reader, the tablet also boasts integrated AI features. Integrated microphones enable real-time transcription in 15 languages. AI features with ChatGPT 4o running in the background are intended to further increase productivity. For example, "AI Search by Circling", which functions similarly to Samsung's or Google's "Circle to Search", can provide answers or in-depth information on selected text passages.
Price and availability
Supporters can back the project by purchasing the $519 "Super Early Bird" offer. Shipping is scheduled to begin in November 2025, with customs fees included in the price. Following the Kickstarter campaign, the bundle is scheduled to go on regular sale at a price of around $739.
Like all crowdfunding campaigns, there is a certain risk that the product may not be delivered as described or delivered at all. Further information about the device can be found in the external product review video embedded below.
