Social networks in China have been buzzing for days. Even prior to the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 just a few hours ago, countless Weibo accounts suddenly posted a ton of camera samples of a yet-to-be-released flagship, ranging from official Honor accounts to unofficial Weibo users who are apparently already testing the successor to the Honor Magic7 Pro. Some of the quality is very high, especially in the images released officially, which you can see below. The night shots in particular appear very low-noise, colorful, and dynamic—a good start to what appears to be an early teaser phase.
Honor Magic8 and Magic 8 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Following the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Honor has also made some less subtle announcements. Both the Magic 8 generation and the Honor MagicPad 3 Pro will be launched this October with the new Qualcomm chipset – in China, of course. When the Honor Magic 8 Pro will launch globally is currently unknown. In addition to the performance and efficiency improvements already announced by Qualcomm, a press release also announces new features, particularly in the area of AI. For example, Honor's Magic Color is designed to simplify image processing with AI support.
Many Honor Magic8 hands-on pictures online
The appearance of the Honor Magic8 has been known since September 25 at the latest. Numerous Weibo accounts have posted initial hands-on pictures with the new "AI Image" camera flagship in the last few hours, some of which can be found below or at the top. Compared to its predecessor, the camera module has changed only slightly. The LED flash has been moved to the bottom and the periscope telephoto lens is now integrated in the top left corner. In addition to a light blue model, there is also a gold one (see above). Other colors are likely.
Many camera samples online
As previously mentioned, you can find a lot of additional images on Weibo intended to demonstrate the camera quality. The quality of the photos varies, but many of the photos below are from independent photographers and not directly from Honor. Sometimes you can see a bit too much of the "AI magic" in the photos, such as the photo of the sleeping cat below. Otherwise, the shots are quite good, and the new Honor camera appears to work quite well at night. The images show a 23mm main camera with an f/1.6 aperture and a 200 MP telephoto lens with an equivalent 85mm focal length and f/2.6 aperture. The telephoto lens is likely to have a 1/1.4-inch sensor, making it a very similar camera system to that of the Vivo X300 Pro.
