Xiaomi may have gained an upper hand by launching the Xiaomi 17 series earlier than its competitors, but its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagships will soon face some real heat. To be precise, more and more competitors are announcing an imminent launch date for their next-gen flagship phones, and Honor has joined the bandwagon.
As the company just announced, the Honor Magic 8 series will launch in China on October 15, 2025. This new lineup will introduce two flagship phones on the said date, a standard and a Pro. Among the two, the standard model scored a much higher score than the Xiaomi 17 Pro in a recent benchmark comparison.
Honor has also previously shared some camera samples captured by the Magic 8 Pro. Per the photos, it seems that the company's upcoming Pro flagship will be capable of taking detail-rich images in a wide range of lighting conditions. The zoom capabilities also look promising.
In addition to revealing the launch date of the Magic 8 series, Honor has shown off the Pro phone in four color options. As we covered earlier, not much has changed from the predecessors in terms of the overall design (1 TB Magic 7 Pro curr. $1,124.06 on TradingShenzhen). However, there's a new physical button, which the brand says is dedicated to AI functions.
The company will also launch a handful of other products besides the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship phones. That includes Magic Watch 5 Pro, smaller MagicPad 3, MagicPad 3 Pro, and Earbuds 4. There's still no official word on when all of them will make a global debut.
