A possible Honor 30 Pro surfaces on Geekbench, Kirin 990 and all
The Honor 20 and 20 Pro are phones that rocked the flagship-grade Kirin 980 processor on their launch. Now, their successors are expected to do the same. A new set of results found on the Geekbench website may offer more evidence to support this theory. It apparently refers to a fresh Huawei model number with the high-end specs that may end up matching at least one of the upcoming 30 line-up.
This device is known as the "EBG-AN00" on Geekbench 4. It does somewhat match the normal conventions of internal Huawei names: for example, the Mate 30 Pro is the LIO-AN00 on the same website. Both listings also declare an SoC with the same attributes and identifiers (e.g. a 1.95GHz clock-speed): therefore, it seems the EBG-AN00 is also a Kirin 990 device.
Interestingly, the 'AN00' suffix also tends to presage 5G status among Huawei phones: therefore, it seems this new phone, rumored to be the Pro variant of the Honor 30 series, runs the appropriate version of the high-end chipset. Considering that the 20S' successor has also recently turned out to have this connectivity, this may not be much of a surprise should this new leak prove true.
The rest of the Honor 30 series is yet to be officially revealed, however. The latest word on this event is that it will take place on April 15, 2020 - one day after the launch of OnePlus' own latest flagships. As the 2 fresh lines may end up in direct competition, this may be plausible.
