The Intel Panther Lake APUs are enjoying their moment in the limelight and for good reason. Thanks to strong iGPU performance, excellent multi-core performance, and super power efficiency, chips like the Core Ultra X9 388H can supercharge multimedia Windows laptops in 2026. One such laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 11, which was first shown off at CES 2026.
As it turns out, Lenovo seems to have made some serious battery life gains on the IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 1. Battery life tests done by Hardware Canucks and Zip Tie Tech confirm that the laptop lasts an incredibly long time on a single charge. In Hardware Canucks’ web browsing loop with the screen set to 150 nits and 60 Hz, the IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 11 lasted an eye-popping 30 hours and 34 minutes.
To put this into perspective, our battery life test of the IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 9 with the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H saw the notebook manage only 10 hours and 39 minutes. Granted, the IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 11 has a 99.99 Wh battery vs the Gen 9’s 84 Wh cell. But the IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 11 lasts three times as long on a single charge with only a 19% bigger battery.
This is a phenomenal improvement by Intel in just two generations.
Moving on to Zip Tie Tech's results, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 11 with the Core Ultra X9 388H lasted 23.5 hours playing a video at 200 nits screen brightness. For reference, the IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 9 idling at minimum brightness lasted for 22 hours and 18 minutes in our testing. So, the latest IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 11 can play video for longer at 200 nits than the two-generation-old IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 9 can idle at minimum brightness.
Here, we must mention that the Apple M5 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite provide better endurance than Intel Panther Lake when playing locally stored media, according to Hardware Canucks. Whether this is solely due to better media engines on the Apple M5 or unoptimized Intel Panther Lake drivers remains to be seen.
Long story short, Intel Panther Lake APUs seem to be quite frugal when it comes to energy efficiency. So, we are finally at a point where, if you are using a Windows laptop with an Intel Panther Lake APU, chances are quite high that you won’t have to worry about battery life ever.
