The new HyRead Gaze Pro X uses a proven formula already known from the Boox Note Air4 C: a 10.3-inch E Ink panel in a thin housing with a wide screen edge on one side, making the tablet easier to hold with one hand.
Compared to the aforementioned Boox tablet, the Gaze Pro X has at least one major disadvantage: it has an E Ink Carta 1300 panel and can only display 16 shades of gray, but no colors. On the other hand, the display does have a resolution of 2,480 x 1,860 with a pixel density of 300 PPI and integrated front lighting, the color temperature of which can be adjusted. Moreover, the HyRead Gaze Pro X has an 8 MP camera on the back, which many competitors lack. This can be practical for scanning documents, for example.
The tablet comes with Android 14, which should make it compatible with most third-party apps. This applies not only to e-book apps such as Amazon Kindle, but also to note-taking and drawing apps, which is especially useful in light of the tablet's compatibility with the pressure-sensitive Wacom stylus and Bluetooth keyboards. The battery has a capacity of 4,800 mAh and is charged via USB-C. An unspecified eight-core processor is installed alongside 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, of which the latter can be expanded using a microSD card.
