According to the latest information from Canalys, 147.6 million tablets were shipped worldwide in 2024, 9.2% more than in the previous year. This is first time the market has grown since 2020. Canalys attributes this primarily to increased upgrades from corporate customers, while consumer sales are said to have grown only minimally.
The big winner is Xiaomi, with the Chinese company having sold an impressive 9.2 million tablets in 2024, 73.1% more than in the previous year, making it the fifth-largest tablet manufacturer in the world and displacing Amazon. Lenovo and Huawei each sold more than 10 million tablets, 12% and 29.3% more than in the previous year, respectively. Thanks to this strong growth, Huawei was able to surpass Lenovo and achieve a global market share of 7.3%. The two market leaders remain unchallenged and together dominate 57.4% of the market.
Second place once again goes to Samsung, with the company recording growth of 8.2% and a market share of 18.8% with 27.8 million Galaxy Tabs sold. Apple saw slower growth, as the company was "only" able to sell 5.3% more tablets in 2024 than in the previous year, performing worse than the market as a whole, which is why its market share fell by 1.4 percentage points to 38.6%. This is partly due to the fact that the latest iPad Pro has received a substantial price increase, while the cheapest iPad has not received an upgrade since 2022.
