According to findings within MIUI code, the Xiaomi 12 and Redmi K50 series will be the first devices to launch with MIUI 13. Both are expected to arrive soon, but the Xiaomi 12 and Redmi K50 series will feature MIUI 13 based on Android 11, not the newer Android 12 variant.

While we do not know what the Xiaomi 12 or Redmi K50 series look like, the pair have leaked several times so far. Most recently, it emerged that the Redmi K50 series could arrive as up to four devices, all with Samsung E5 LTPO displays. Xiaomi is expected to complement the OLED panels with Dimensity 7000, Dimensity 9000 and Snapdragon 888 SoCs, too.

Now, Xiaomiui has discovered that Xiaomi is testing MIUI 13 on the Xiaomi 12 and Redmi K50 series ahead of their launches. Unsurprisingly, these builds have early version numbers, such as V13.0.0.56.RLDCNXM or V13.0.0.46.RLDMIXM. Accordingly, Xiaomi should unveil MIUI 13 when it showcases the Xiaomi 12 series in December.

However, Xiaomiui's findings also show that at least the Xiaomi 12X and Redmi K50 will ship with an Android 11 version of MIUI 13, rather than Android 12. Typically, Xiaomi delivers at least two Android OS updates for its devices, or three for the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro. Launching the Xiaomi 12X and Redmi K50 with Android 11 would allow the company to claim it will provide three Android OS updates, while only upgrading the pair to Android 14.
