Xiaomi 10 Gigabit Router launches with tri-band Wi-Fi, NFC and USB 3.0 support
Xiaomi has made a new connectivity device official alongside the 13 series of Android smartphones. The OEM hints that it might be the perfect home network upgrade to go with one of the new flagships, as it supports NFC for easy set-up and pairing with compatible devices.
The user might need to fit their handset between 2 of the new 10 Gigabit Router's 4 wide 'spikes', which house 12 individual antenna between them for potentially enhanced gain and "whole-house" range.
They are controlled using an "enterprise-grade" Qualcomm chipset: Xiaomi does not mention which one exactly, but notes it has 4 ARM Cortex-A73 cores (for "up to 2x" the performance of its quad-A53 predecessor) and 2GB of RAM.
Accordingly, Xiaomi asserts that the new router is ready to split a fiber-optic cable's input between 4 2.5GB ports for an up to "dual LAN and dual WAN" network. It can do so with a choice between a 10Gb RJ-45 or a 10Gb SFP+ port.
Alternatively, Xiaomi estimates that the router might also emit up to 10Gb of "wireless" speed, with its 4x4 2.4GHz (at up to megabits per second (1,376.4Mb/s)), 5GHz (at up to 5764.8 Mb/s) and 5.8GHz (at up to 2882.4 Mb/s) band support (on paper, at least).
Accordingly, Xiaomi even pitches the new 10 Gigabit Router at mild NAS use-cases as well as high-volume home pursuits such as 8K streaming, gaming or VR with a transfer rate of up to 3,000 (Mb/s) via its USB 3.0 port. The new 10 Gigabit Router can now be pre-ordered from Xiaomi, albeit in China only, for 1,799 yuan (~US$258).
