A new update is rolling out for the Philips Hue Bridge. Software version 1972004020 arrives around a month after the last release, version 1971060010, which was said to enhance the smart home hub's security.
The release notes for software version 1972004020 state that it brings support for several recently launched products. These include the Hue Smart button v3, the white versions of the Xamento recessed spotlight and Adore Bathroom recessed downlight, and the Hue Play wall washer (curr. $219.99 at Amazon). These products recently reached the Philips Hue smartphone app as well.
The change log also notes that there are several small improvements to "make your Hue Bridge work even better". However, the company does not explain where users will feel the benefit of these tweaks. Software version 1972004020 is rolling out to users of the Hue Bridge in phases. You should receive it automatically, provided you have automatic updates switched on. You can check this in the Philips Hue app by going to Settings > Software update > Automatic update.
It is worth noting that, at the time of writing, the Philips Hue Bridge retails in the US for $59.99 (curr. $52.99 at Amazon). However, Signify, the company behind the smart home brand, has announced that prices of some products will increase in this market from July 1st, which could affect the RRP of the Hue Bridge.
