Philips Hue has released a new version of its iOS app. Version 5.45.1 arrives a couple of weeks after version 5.44.0, a minor update with several bug fixes and stability improvements.
Update version 5.45.1 brings a change for customers who use Amazon Alexa. You can now use Alexa to control multiple Philips Hue Bridges; historically, there was only support for a single Hue Bridge for each Amazon account. To enable this feature, users must relink the skill Amazon Alexa app. The company notes that existing automations and device connections will not be affected by the relinking process.
This release also brings support for some of the brand’s new products, like the white versions of the Xamento recessed spotlight and Adore Bathroom recessed downlight, the Hue Smart button v3, and the Hue Play wall washer (curr. $219.99 at Amazon). These products are now supported by the Philips Hue Bridge, thanks to a separate software update.
You can now download the Philips Hue app version 5.45.1 for iOS from the Apple App Store. It is unclear when a similar update will arrive for Android users; the Google Play Store states that the last update was to version 5.44.1 earlier in June.
