The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Large Screen Cat Eye Edition has been released in China. This is the latest in a series of smart door locks from the brand, arriving a few weeks after the Smart Door Lock 2 Finger Vein Enhanced Edition.
Xiaomi’s new Smart Door Lock 2 Large Screen Cat Eye Edition offers 19 methods to unlock your door. These include using the integrated fingerprint scanner, which is said to recognise a stored print in under 0.5 seconds with 99.51% accuracy. Other methods are NFC, a smartphone via Bluetooth, a password and a physical key. The device has a built-in Cat Eye camera with a 160° viewing angle and an AI human detection feature. It also works at night, thanks to infrared technology.
When someone is at your door, the video is shown on a screen on the half of the lock inside your home. According to Xiaomi, this integrated screen is larger than on other models, though it does not provide an exact size. The video stream can also be viewed in the Mijia app or on connected devices like a smart TV or smart home screen. You can speak to visitors using the integrated speaker and microphone, and there is a voice change tool. The lock is battery-powered, running for at least six months on a single charge, and should operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to 55°C (~14 to 131°F).
In China, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock 2 Large Screen Cat Eye Edition retails for CNY 1,699 (~$237). It is unlikely that this product will reach other markets like Europe, where the brand sells other smart home products like the Robot Vacuum X20 Pro (curr. €439.99 at Xiaomi Germany).
