Nintendo Switch 2: Microsoft's gaming CEO comments on first-party Xbox games support for the handheld

Nintendo showcased the Switch 2 in all its glory on January 16, but the first-look trailer didn't offer any details on the third-party games that will be released on the gaming handheld. Recent leaks have suggested that it will get multiple AAA game ports, including some of the titles that Xbox is known for.

Now, Phil Spencer, Microsoft's gaming CEO, has confirmed that Switch 2 will receive support for first-party Xbox games. Spencer talked about this in an interview with Gamertag Radio, in which he shared that Microsoft is "looking forward" to offering support to Nintendo with games.

This comes after Xbox's February 2024 announcement about bringing a wave of games to the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms. After that, Xbox saw great success with the PS5 port of Sea of Thieves, which Microsoft reportedly sold over a million copies on the Sony platform in the span of four months after release.

While there's no confirmation yet, recent rumors have shared that Nintendo's new gaming handheld will get ports for Fallout 4, Starfield, Diablo IV, an unspecified Call of Duty game, Flight Simulator, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. These ports may be announced at the Nintendo Direct event, which is set for April 2, 2025.

Speaking of which, Nintendo is also expected to share more details about the Switch 2 at that event. While the first-look trailer gave a detailed look at the design and some of the gaming handheld's features, it didn't shed light on the specs and pricing details. These pieces of information could be confirmed at the event.
