Honor just announced several new devices at an event in China, among which is its latest foldable flagship, the Magic V3. Thanks to the improved hinge, the company managed to make the Velvet Black variant just 9.2 mm thick while folded (4.35 mm unfolded) and weigh just 226 grams. The other colorways add just an extra 0.1 mm of thickness, and they tip the scales at 230 grams, making them still 9 grams lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,899.99 on Amazon).
The 6.43-inch cover screen has a fairly common 20:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,376 × 1,060, while the 7.92-inch inner display comes with an aspect ratio of 9.78:9 and a 2,344 × 2,156 resolution. Both panels support a 120 Hz refresh rate, and they house identical 20-megapixel selfie cameras in hole-punch cutouts.
Moving on to the back, there's a triple camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 40-megapixel ultrawide that can take macro shots at 2.5 cm, and a 50-megapixel telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom and an OIS lens.
The Magic V3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC paired with either 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. Meanwhile, its 5,150 mAh battery supports 66 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. On the software side, the handset is running Honor's MagicOS 8.0.1 based on Android 14. Other features include satellite messaging and calls, as well as an IPX8 water resistance rating.
Preorders for the Honor Magic V3 are already open, with pricing starting at CNY 8,999 ($1,240) for the SKU equipped with 12 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage. Unfortunately, the company didn't announce if and when the foldable will reach markets outside of China.
