A 'molecular beverages printer', the Cana One, is now available to pre-order from Cana. You can use the gadget to print drinks on demand, from thousands of flavors, with the ability to personalize the beverage to your taste.

Cana has announced the Cana One, a 'molecular beverages printer'. The device lets you print drinks on demand; Cana claims that the Cana One can make thousands of beverages, including juice, soft drinks, iced coffee, hard seltzer, wine and cocktails.

The Cana One uses microfluidic liquid dispense technology. The gadget requires a single ingredient cartridge to make hundreds of drinks and lasts for around a month. The cartridge contains a set of trace compounds that deliver flavor to a wide variety of drinks.

You can customize the sugar, caffeine, and alcohol level in your drinks, adjust the portion size and even add vitamins or supplements to your beverage. Also, you can use a PIN code to lock some refreshments, such as caffeinated and alcoholic drinks, on the device.

Cana suggests that this is a sustainable device as it reduces waste plastics, aluminum and glass containers in which the drinks would otherwise be packaged. The company also states that mass-producing beverages is a carbon-intense process, which is cut out with the Cana One.

The Cana One will cost US$799 (~€730), with an introductory price of US$499 (~€456) for the first 10,000 customers to pre-order the device. The cartridge will be free of charge; instead, you will also need to pay US$0.29 to US$2.99 (~€0.26 to €2.73) per drink. Cana expects to start shipping the gadget to US customers in early 2023. It is not clear if or when the Cana One will be available in the rest of the world.
