New information about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB emerges online

Nvidia continues to maintain its stoic silence about the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti's release date after its CES 2022 reveal. A previous report speculated that its launch was delayed due to BIOS and hardware issues. Some of those issues may have been sorted out, as Nvidia seems to have finalized its board design, according to an EEC listing. Now, a Chiphell member has some insider information about the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti's launch date, which will reportedly be unveiled on March 29.

The post adds that Nvidia needs to iron out some kinks with the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti's memory, which is rumoured to use 24 GB of 21 Gbps Micron modules for a bandwidth of up to 1 TB/s. Then again, Nvidia doesn't plan on mass-producing the graphics card, which will serve as a proof of concept of Ampere's power rather than a consumer-grade product. The few-odd units that will go on sale are projected to cost around US$5,000.

The Chiphell poster also says that Nvidia has scrapped the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB variant outright. That isn't very surprising, as there was very little evidence of the graphics card's existence outside of a few certification listings. It was supposed to be Nvidia's answer to Intel's Arc Alchemist GPU, which has also been delayed due to driver issues.
