NVIDIA reportedly delays the RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB and RTX 3080 12 GB, leaving the RTX 3050 and RTX 3090 Ti on track for CES 2022

Last month, several sources reported that NVIDIA planned to reveal the RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB and RTX 3080 12 GB on December 17. Specifications for both cards have already leaked, but NVIDIA has been developing these SKUs for a while. Seemingly, NVIDIA has cancelled at least a 16 GB version of RTX 3070 before too, only to return it to as the RTX 3070 Ti.

For reference, various sources were correct in their claims that NVIDIA would start selling the RTX 2060 (12 GB) on December 7, even if hardly any cards are available. However, Igor's Lab reports that NVIDIA has postponed the RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB and RTX 3080 12 GB, with only the RTX 3090 Ti remaining on schedule for its previously leaked release date.

VideoCardz asserts that NVIDIA has pushed the RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB until after Chinese New Year, which falls on February 1, 2022. The website adds that the RTX 3080 12 GB 'might now launch' between the middle and the end of January, after CES 2022. Igor's Lab does not necessarily think this is the case, though.

So, NVIDIA may only reveal the RTX 3050 and RTX 3090 Ti next month in Las Vegas, with the RTX 3070 Ti 16 and RTX 3080 12 GB kept in reserve in case it needs to offer competitors for future AMD and Intel graphics cards. Reputedly, NVIDIA has already distributed RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB and RTX 3080 12 GB GPUs to its board partners.
