For a sub-$1,000 15-inch laptop, the Acer Aspire V3 delivers the goods. A quad-core Ivy Bridge CPU and NVIDIA Kepler graphics give it multitasking and gaming chops, while the keyboard provides a comfortable typing experience. Sure, the display has a plain ol' 1,366 x 768 pixel count and the whole package weighs a backpack-unfriendly 5.8 pounds, but you at least get a DVD drive, strong selection of ports and decent audio.

Honestly I'd have a hard time recommending the Aspire V3-571 G. Sure the notebook offers some great highlights including its impressive processor and graphics card, but the cost for those specs proves to be just too high. Even if consumers can overlook the poor quality display, touchpad and keyboard there is the still the chassis to worry about. Easily flexing and giving way, the chassis raises serious questions as to the durability of this device, which will only further be augmented if users decide to use this laptop on the go. If you are looking for a notebook that you plan to use as a desktop replacement most of the time, moving it only occasionally then the V3-571 G may prove to be a suitable choice for you. However, if you find yourself not needing the extensive processing power that this device offers there are certainly better options available.

The Acer Aspire V3-571 is an excellent all-rounder, which marries top performance, decent build quality and a vibrant screen. It's suitable for the whole family, and shows the type of bargain that can be picked up as manufacturers look to the next generation of hardware. The Aspire V3 is a 15.6-inch laptop, with an attractive looking black plastic chassis that does a great job of looking classy and keeping the cost down. It's not too weighty either, and at 2.5kg it's light enough to carry when needed, just maybe not all day.

Acer's Aspire V3 571G-6641 brings with it a major redesign for the company the offers an improved keyboard and larger trackpad. The standout feature though is that this laptop priced under $600 features a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics processor that gives it graphics capabilities that are often not found at this price. The Acer Aspire V3-571 is a great example of just how much can be achieved within the constraints of a severely limited budget. Gamers will need to set their sights a little higher, and it isn’t particularly convincing in sound reproduction. It’s a nice unit – pity about the shiny black – it seems very responsive and the video compression ran very swiftly. However the battery use seemed very heavy to me when the specifications say 4.5 hours that’s what I expect. A full recharge (while off) took 90minutes.As with most notebooks the screen is reflective which can mean it’s difficult to read with a strong light behind you.

Finding a system with a dedicated graphics around $500 is very difficult but Acer manages to do this with the Aspire V4-551G-8454 which is great for anyone that might want to have a laptop with gaming capabilities. Mind you this is not a high performance system but it is suitable for most people.

If you can get past the very glossy finish, the rest of the package is rather impressive. It has been put together a bit extremely well for a machine that is selling for around Rs. 40,000. It offers very good system performance, and the potential for gaming with the Nvidia GeForce GT640M on board cannot be denied. It is worth considering this if buying on a strict budget, because it pretty much ticks all the boxes.

Acer's Aspire V5-571G-9683 takes the existing design and updates it to add more performance while still keeping the costs down. The system is very affordable but it does sacrifice a number of features to keep those costs down. The most notable of these is the hard drive which is generally smaller and slower than the competition. In addition, the screen is essentially no different than that can be found on their lower cost models.

AMD Radeon HD 7660G + HD 7670M Dual Graphics: Dual Graphics (asymmetrical CrossFire) combination of a dedicated Radeon HD 7670M and a 7660G processor graphics card (in the processor core of the A-Series). Only in some cases faster than the dedicated GPU alone and furthermore it sometimes suffers from micro stuttering.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M:
Multiple models based on various chips of the Fermi generation. Specifically, the GT 630M exists in GF108/GF106/GF116 variants, but are all essentially renamed GeForce GT 540M or 555M GPUs. A 28nm GF117 variant exists as well with reduced power consumption.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.
AMD Radeon HD 7640G: Processor graphics card that is built into the Trinity A8 series APUs from AMD. Based on the VLIW4 architecture of the Radeon HD 6900 desktop series.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 3000: Integrated graphics card in the Intel Sandy Bridge processors (Core ix-2xxx). The HD 3000 is the faster (internally GT2 called) version with 12 Execution Units (EUs).

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
3610QM:
An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.3 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU running at 650-1100 MHz on a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.
3630QM: An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.
AMD A-Series:
A10-4600M: Mobile Quad-Core processor with only two FP calculation units and an integrated Radeon HD 7660G graphics card.
A8-4500M: Trinity quad-core, 1.9 - 2.8 GHz, 7640G GPU

Dual-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. The CPU is clocked at 2.4 GHz and features the Turbo Boost 2.0 only for the graphics card.
3110M: Ivy-Bridge-based dual-core, 2.4 GHz core clock (no turbo), includes HD 4000 GPU
Intel Core i5:
2450M: Dual-core processor based on the Sandy Bridge architecture with an integrated graphics card and dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. The CPU is clocked at 2.5 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.8-3.1 GHz) and the GPU at 650 (1300 MHz Turbo).
3210M: Fast Ivy-Bridge-based dual-core, includes HD 4000 GPU, core clock 2.5 - 3.1 GHz
3230M: Fast Ivy-Bridge-based dual-core, includes HD 4000 GPU, core clock 2.6 - 3.2 GHz
14.0: 14 inch display size is a mixture between the small formats of subnotebooks and the 15 inch standard display. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.
15.6: 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear.
