Reviews for the Acer Swift 3 SF314-42-R4XJ
Acer's new 14-inch laptop has AMD's brand-new Ryzen 7 4700U APU on board, which lacks neither CPU nor GPU performance. Good battery life has not been compromised on despite the machine's large computing power, though. The new Swift 3 is well-equipped in other areas too, with Acer including an NVMe SSD, a matte IPS screen, a backlit keyboard and dual-channel RAM.

If you’re looking for something with a brighter, more colorful display and some powerful speakers, you might want to check out the HP Envy 13, which runs for $799. Otherwise, this Acer Swift 3 review shows that it can provide you with a great laptop experience, and it would be especially good for those who are looking to use this more for work and school.

The Acer Swift 3 offers amazing performance (for its price of $649), with its AMD Ryzen 7 4700U CPU, long battery life and a lightweight chassis. However, the display isn't as bright as it should be and its speakers could use more pep as well.

The bloatware and the missing features are symptomatic of the Swift, which is mediocre in several areas – the screen, build quality and design are all underwhelming, and the keyboard and battery are middling. All of these issues could be rectified if you’re willing to spend a little more or sacrifice some CPU power. In a handful of areas, the Lenovo and Honor machines are better than the Acer without costing much more.

To sum up, with the Acer Swift 3’s slim and lightweight build, good performance for its class, a nice set of I/Os, and decent battery life, this can be considered a great device for school or professional use and entertainment as well. You might not be able to play a lot of AAA games on it in high frame rates, but it has enough power to take on your daily tasks. Acer is yet to announce the local SRP of this model, but we’ll let you know once we have the information.

But overall, the Swift 3’s sturdy build, decent battery, and compact form render it a solid choice for its target demographic: students and anyone else looking for a portable device that won’t break the bank. It’s not the best laptop on the market in any of those categories — but it’s one of the best at its price point in all of them.

The 14-inch Acer Swift 3 is powered by AMD's Ryzen 4000 series mobile processors. This might not mean much to you unless you follow the world of mobile processors, but basically these AMD chips are faster than the competing Intel CPUs that rule the market -- and they cost less. That means models like the Swift 3 stay affordable but get you the processor performance of a pricier laptop.

Acer's Swift 3 with the new AMD Ryzen 7 4700U performs spectacularly well for its price point. It's great for gaming and delivers performance similar to devices from a few years ago running with discrete GPUs.

Of course, at such a budget-friendly price, you’ll have to sacrifice something. And with the Swift 3, display brightness and color reproduction isn’t its strong suit. But if you’re a homebody who spends most of your time indoors, brightness it’s not going to be much of an issue. However, if you’re finicky about having a brilliant display with high color reproduction capabilities, you’ll want to skip the Swift 3 and opt for the HP Envy 13, which is within the same price range.

As the first Ryzen 7 4700U laptop we've seen, Acer's pedestrian Swift 3 is suddenly a sprinter, delivering unprecedented performance for a laptop this light and this small. It can compete with some gaming and content-creation laptops in CPU-focused tasks.

Acer has been a great partner for AMD, and the new Swift 3 punches well above its weight. It is easy to be distracted by some of the top-end notebooks on the market, but if your budget is not quite there, you get a lot of the same qualities, but at a price that is very reasonable. The Acer Swift 3 SF314-42 is set to available in the early part of this month, so it should be available to purchase very soon.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.
Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility.
